I didn’t realize I was autistic until I started working as a therapist for kids with autism and I resonated so much with a lot of my clients. I ended up getting a diagnosis and he said you are definitely autistic and have mastered the art of masking

One thing I’ve realized with having autism is definitely when I get one thing stuck on my mind it stays there in my head

Growing up, I always hyperfixated on the experiences of Neurodivergent people. Within the last year, I found out I had autism, and I already knew I had adhd for a while. It all makes sense now, I want to be the safe, caring, validating person that I needed years ago. I'm also nonbinary and queer lol. Now, I'm working on becoming a therapist who specializes in neurodivergence. I love you both so much, and you both have helped me through so much! I feel so seen!

I love how attentive you are to one another when the other person is talking! 💕

I've also read studies on the correlation between being autistic and being trans which i find really interesting as an autistic trans person. One hypothesis on it that seems likely is that autistic people realize that they're different from most of society which leads them to further reflect on their differences and makes them more likely to realize that they're trans - and it could also go the other way around. I feel like when you're already outside of what is deemed "normal" and acceptable by society, it's sometimes easier to accept other parts of yourself that might other you

As someone who is late diagnosed (autistic & ADHD) late 2022 at 52, it changed the way I see my life. No longer feeling like I'm broken (although that still feels the case sometimes even though I know it's not true), having been told that I'm too loud, too much, not good enough but now knowing it's not my fault. Both our daughters are autistic which makes for a very interesting family dynamic at times.

I'm autistic have ADHD and I'm a lesbian Whoop! Late diagnosed at 34. Diagnosed myself it became my special interest and then got it professionally diagnosed - wanting to know for sure and have it on medical record so I wouldn't be gaslit. Totally relatable thanks peeps!

Hey. I'm an autistic genderfluid person, and hearing you two talk about your experiences really helped me. It's good to hear you talk about things I relate to so much and it helps to hear your unique points of view. Thank you both so much and I wish the best for y'all.

This made me feel really validated. Thank you for making this wonderful video. As a bisexual girl with high-functioning autism I really value your content as I find it insightful, informative and relatable AF. 💖💖

No shade to Keara or Lauren I love watching you guys but I really disagree with self diagnosing something like autism, especially if you’re not just telling people close to you, I know it can be super hard to get a diagnosis nowadays, I’m trying to get mine right now but I just don’t agree with it because there’s always a chance you don’t have it when you’re not diagnosed and then you’re telling everyone you have it when you don’t really know what it’s like. Saying this all respectfully btw, I am open to hearing other opinions :) also btw you can be neurodivergent without having autism !
But if anyone disagrees, I’m open to other perspectives!

I thought about this but then I realized I'm just "HSP" (Highly Sensitive Person). Because Autism is a neuronal kind of dissorder and I don't feel like it but HSP and autism share a lot of caracteristics.
May a lot of us are having a disequilibrium, maybe mentally, nutricionally, we are healing something, but it's not neccesarely Autism. Anyways I'm just also sharing my experience n.n Thank you for sharing yours <3

the ace community talks a lot about how we have a higher population of autistic folks than the general population does.

Thanks for this. Fun story on my self-realisation: I only realised I was autistic after I noticed all the symptoms in my son and remembered that I had all of those childhood experiences too, I just showed it less because I wanted to ‘fit in’. So after him, I got a diagnosis and when I finally told my mum she also went “….oh…”😊 so I think it’s safe to say three generations of neuspicy minds (and yes I do know it runs in families).
