I raised my pet fire ants at the start of last year from just a single queen ant with eggs in a test tube. One year later, they inhabit a huge, beautiful setup and have gone through so much. As a child when kids were trying to fry ants with magnifying glasses. I was the kid exploring, catching, and studying different colonies of ants in my yard. I memorized even 30+ years later where those particular colonies would be at my old childhood home. Went back one year to reminisce and one colony of red ants still inhabited the back side of a old stump. It was crazy to think that colony was older than me and still working and functioning to this day.
