That ant stuck between the nest and the wall looks like one of those fossils you see in cartoons when they pan underground. Damn, feeling really nostalgic now.

Clear rtv silicone on those edges would be an easy fix you wouldn't really see. Assuming that gap is not where they get oxygen

It's common knowledge ants sometimes sqeaze through glass or stuff the dead in between but a good way to prevent it is to glue around the glass creating a block

Itd be a good idea to use a natural barrier like baby powder + alcohol to make a barrier they wont cross. I'd also cover the enclosure so they have their darkness they need. I suggest watching that Canada ant channel here on the tubes.

I don't understand why you would chose to move Fire Ants, that grow their colonies SO QUICKLY, into a smaller formicarium instead of finding a better solution.

Unless the way your ants are getting air is through the glass I would suggest silicon or just get a metal frame around the edges and then place the silicon
