My parents chose for me to be a Roman Catholic. I chose to remain because I believed the RCC to be what it claims to be, and I remained until I was 61 when God chose to rescue me. I couldn't have chosen to pray and ask Him because I wasn't aware I needed rescuing and if someone had told me that I did, I would have chosen not to believe them.

I love that even though it's a doctrine held by Calvinists you don't call it that way because that only leads to division, and it's crystal clear in the Bible that God chooses us for the glory of His name!

If not for the electing love of God no one would be saved.
A dead man can do nothing.

Amen! Truly encouraged to see people proclaim and teach the gospel, and at the same time being faithful to the sound interpretation of the Holy Scriptures.

I actually prayed that you guys would come out with this video, as I'd been confused lately.  Thank you!

I use to think I didn't have a choice, but now it makes sense!

You should do it be on Isaiah 53 where it says by His stripes we are healed. Some people take that to mean that as a Christian we should never ever get sick and if we do then it's a lack of faith on our part.

Thank you Gabriel for all your videos and all you do for God and his people.  This video  is obviously a challenging one.  I heard an interview with John Macarthur and he was asked to explain predestination and free will.  His answer was that both are biblical and therefor true and that he's sure we'll figure it out when we get to Heaven. For the Christians not understanding this don't dismiss it as garbage.  Do your research!  Get a study bible and look it up yourself but if you start to shape God's word into something that is more comfortable for you, you may be at risk of falling into idolatry. Be careful and stay on the narrow and true path.

9 years after this video was made I can see a trend. Lately, more and more people are commenting as strident anti-Calvinists. They don't bother trying to understand the Bible's perspective; they just feed their pride. As if they can possibly know how God thinks about everything!! We are indeed in end times.

We can choose, but by our sinful nature, we are just like pigs. You show them a nice cooked meal vs a trash can, a nice bath vs mud, they freely choose to be in the mud eating the trash, because that is just how they are. The very same thing applies to us. The Bible makes it crystal clear that there is none righteous and none who seek God, and the regeneration has to come first in order for us to have the faith, as stated in Ezekiel 36.26.

God choose us. But still loves us and love to save us all...
In this view I also wish the real loving will of God is stronger than our own will to be wrong or evil 😔 so that we naturally choose to listen and follow God. And none of us are to be subjected to wrath but love

The question being, Does God have preexistent criteria by which He saves men?

Chosen for what? Not Salvation. Look at the context. No scripture teaches that God chose anyone to be saved He chooses them for tasks of service having been qualified somehow. Either chosen upon being a Israrlite of the seed of Abraham, or else already a believer to carry out a holy duty of service. Never is man chosen for Salvation. This is Augustinian Gnostic Election

How can we honestly be held accountable for a decision we make if God has already determined that He is going to pass by us & not give us a legitimate choice, & has already decided He WON'T save us? I know that you're going to claim it's a "mystery." That's what happens with the system of CalvinISM whenever the various points of the system begin to fall apart under hard scrutiny.

After reading the comments section of this video, I couldn't help but think of this verse in scripture:

"For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." 1Cor 14: 33

Awful lot of confusion/contention around this subject.

All right, let's try to get this correct and everybody's mind. Either Jesus died for all so John 3:16 would be true, or Jesus died for those that God says I have chosen to be saved, and nobody else no matter how hard they tried can ever be saved because I decided to condemn them just for the fun of it?
this is what a lot of people see when they have pre-destination, God has chosen you or has not. You have no choice in this matter. So you can either go out and teach the world about God and waste your time because God has already chosen knows he wants, or that God has chosen people through pre-destination knowing who wouldrespond to his call and those who would not. And this case we do go out and let everybody know about Christ so they can be saved.
I am just trying to figure out which one it is.
either God says you would be saved or you would not and therefore you have no choice, and therefore Jesus lied when he said that he died so that nobody would die and go to hell.
Or we have a miss translation for whatever reason and that Jesus did die for us and that we choose to follow him, but the predestination is actually under for knowledge because he knew who would it would not follow him.
Either we have a choice or we don't.

Some say both Arminianism and Calvinism are improper representations of the behind-the-scenes of salvation. While Calvinist/Reformed teachers have convinced me of Monergism, Lutherans have a few good arguments about not believing particular/Limited atonement.

Wow! A text out of context is a pretext. Each of the texts cited was about persons chosen for a special mission in the salvation plan of God. Those texts weren't referring to the general masses. All of the rest of us, who have little roles mostly insignificant to the overall plan.

There is another text about the fatherhood of God from whom every father on earth takes his name. Are you the kind of father who would select some of your children for blessing and loving and others for hating and disregard? You have to be because you take your fatherhood from the Fatherhood of God.
