Absolutely. Found out about this as a kid chasing one of our family dogs in my teens (the kind of dog that takes escape as a game) Two through the nose, 1 through the mouth, and zoning out. Again & again. You become a warrior that doesn't tire nor feel focus on the discomfort.

My old man taught me this trick in the 80s/90s. Works like a charm.

Cross country coach used to tell us if we would exhale on the step that falls on the opposite side of the stitch it would fix it. It always seemed to help.

So THAT is why I’m not getting those side “cramps” anymore. I started doing double inhales when running to break up my breathing pattern, but I only started doing it to relax and get more oxygen than my breathing pattern was allowing me to get. Made my run better after learning how to immediately go back into a breathing rhythm, but had no idea it was helping take away the side pain.

A couple of years ago I figured it out myself. It works every time

Breathing tricks never worked for me, but not drinking liquids 1 hour before, not eating food for 2 hours before, and taking a dump within 3 hours of cardio was always 100% effective at curing side cramps and pains.

I literally experienced this for the first time today and managed to figure on my own that regulating my breathing stopped the cramping feeling. Nice to know it wasn't just a fluke!

I always got those when I ran. I will have to give this breathing technique a try.

In for three steps out for three steps or in for two steps out for two steps. Keeps cramps/stitches at bay for me most of the time
