Hair training as well as scalp oiling caused me to have SEVERE dermatitis that lead to horrendous hair fall. I went to a dermatologist and learned I simply needed to wash more after using a prescribed shampoo for 8 weeks. I also started following you and started implicating your other tips. I now have tailbone length, healthy hair. thank you for all that you do in pursuit of hair science!🙏 😊

Can you do a series on hair coloring? I’ve never had to color my hair but I know the day is coming and I know nothing about it. It’s like a foreign language. I’d like to know what to ask the hair stylist… for someone with dark brown hair who will eventually need to hide grays. Or maybe do a video with a hair colorist? Thanks!

Could you do a detangling video, with emphasis on reducing breakage while brushing? Like if it's better to detangle hair wet or dry, what products to use, the best brushes, and proper technique. Also, tips for impatient girlie's who just want to rip their hair out with the brush.

I’m 10 yrs older than you, so I remember when “sulfates are evil” messaging started. It started with curly hair (and I have curly hair so I was very early on the bandwagon). Absolutely brands are going to start (or rather, go back to) using proper shampooing agents. There’s this complex dance between brand marketing and consumer demands…we danced our way to shampoos that don’t cleanse, and now we’ll just dance our way back LOL.

Thank you for being real with this video and not acting like those influencers or hair stylist I see on TikTok all the time who just feel like they have this moral superiority, and demonize things like coloring or using heating tools on your hair, and who says that basically you can't have amazing hair if you do any of those things, because it is a fact people use them, and will keep using them! I am someone who uses heating tools because I personally prefer how I look with straight or wavy hair rather than with my natural curls (and yes, before anyone says anything, I've tried the CGM, and I know how to style my curls, I just don't like it on me personally), so it's nice to see for once someone say that you can still have beautiful, healthy hair even when coloring your hair or using heat <3

I am new to your channel and I have curly hair, I am so happy you are talking about washing more often, because in the curly community it is such a big thing to go days and days without washing while putting on more products, I never followed the curly girl method because it didn't work for me with having hard water I wash my hair every day and my hair loves it and I feel clean and fresh, I just learned to use a minimum amount of products to make my morning routine simple, it takes me max maybe 15 minutes, I use the Pantene curly line and clarify once a week with Pantene volume and body followed by a deep conditioner once a week.

I would love to see a coconut oil video update including addressing controversies behind it! Many people with healthy and low porosity hair find it does make the hair healthier yet more prone to build up. Also interested to know if coconut oil is a good substitute for bond repair treatments!

Yes, more frequent videos & about 10-20 minutes. Love series on a topic.

For what it's worth, I'm really glad you're feeling better. And you truly do have gorgeous hair.

I’ve been watching since you were in your old (pre Chicago) apartment but still in MI ☺️
I remember when you were still a believer in hair scalp training. I was pretty sure it wasn’t a thing, but I didn’t have the chutzpah to dispute it. You’ve come SO FAR, since!
As others have said, my hair has improved so much by using your advice and expertise.
So I thank you very much.!!!!

Also I love the bite-size talking videos! I think it’s a great way to diversify your channel, mixing in lower-effort content so that you can make the longer videos without burning out or (alternatively) your channel losing traction.

Could you do a video discussing your trichilogist journey? How you started, what schooling you did and any licensure or certification you did? I would love to learn more about that and how to maybe also get into that.

As someone who used to watch you about 4 years ago for a few years and then stopped (I started a different job and wasn’t able to listen to YouTube as much as I did when I was a driver) this is literally life changing 😂 I learned all of my hair care routines from you as I never had anyone to teach me and I was just learning to take better care of myself after being on a very strict religious program.
This is all very good information. Even though I wasn’t watching your videos, a few of these things I just learned organically but my favorite thing about you is that you’re so honest and humble with us. You give us the best information that you have available to you right now. I used to be one of the first to watch all your new videos and I am excited that I have so many to catch h up on!! Thank you so much for being a trailblazer and doing so much work to help us out, your amazing Abbey!❤

Could you do a video on if lightening with high lift color and high volume is better for hair integrity than bleach and low volume developer? Just more on us blonde who want to lighten or highlight! I like something cooler toned because it suits my skin tone more. Worried high lift would make me quite warm?

same, I was worried my hair would fall off if I used sulphate shampoo, until you explained in detail why we do want a clean scalp, not an oily one! Thank you <3

This was useful to hear! Because some of are still clicking around your older videos and taking years old tips from you. I wish you could update some parts of older videos where you’ve since learned better

Abbey — in the UK Pantene’s bond repair treatment line (in the gold bottles) have their own shampoo and conditioner (different ingredients than the ones you reviewed in the blue tubes)! Wish you could pls try them :) you’re the only one I trust with my hair, even if just the ingredients

I'm all for deep cleansing, but am VERY thankful for the brands that are sulfate-free. Sulfates trigger horrific migraines for me, so while I don't find them damaging for my hair, I avoid them like the plague. I just have to find other methods to deep-clean.

having an oily scalp and not washing it frequently made it a nightmare for me during lockdown. i developed a dermatitis and it’s so itchy 🥲 i wash my hair 2/3 times a week now instead of once a week like i used to…
