This was so much better than the conversation you had with Chris. Loved the respectful push back the two of you had today. Please keep bringing on guests like this who want to have a conversation without needing to defend themselves at every turn.

Sproul puts his shoes on first...then his socks.

I feel like Robert is at the place I was at about 3 months into my 6 month time period of transitioning from Calvinism to Provisionalism

Hey Leighton. Thought of you when I read the following:

"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls."
- James 1:21

Robert loves to bring up John 6:44 but he forgets 6 chapters later in John 12:32 Jesus says he draws ALL men to himself.

lol I don’t have any hobbies either Dr. Flowers, thank you for your work. I’m sort of in limbo with my Soteriology so this was interesting. God bless all who see this, may His grace and peace be with you in 2024.

Once again, Calvinism(Reformed Theology) takes the Bible out of the hands of the folks and puts it back in the hands of the long robes...

This is really excellent. I love how deeply hermeneutics has moved Robert in his beliefs, however I might disagree with him. It’s beautifully obvious that he is actively seeking greater and greater understanding of the Word and in the midst of that seeking more of Jesus.

Mr Sproul, isn't the one who plants and the one who waters working synergistically? ;)

Romans 10:14-15 goes against regeneration before faith.

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
Romans 10:14‭-‬15

I just want to know how can scriptures be cherry picked to prove a point? Shouldn't it align with the book it was taken from?

*HOW CALVINIST DOCTRINES EVOLVE*
The underlying urgency - is to make Universal Divine Casual Determinism coherent with what one reads in scripture.

Faith is stated as a necessary condition for salvation within the New Testament

So in order to make Faith align with Universal Divine Causal Determinism - we must create a doctrine which accomplishes this.

Thus the doctrine "Regeneration precedes faith" is born :-]

When Jesus said He would "draw all men, " in John 12:33, was that effectual drawing or effectual calling?

So even this great Christian man was capable of quoting scripture out of context. 👍

Here is my definition of regeneration (born again):
2Cor 5:17 "If any one be in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold all things have become new."

I appreciate Robert coming on, and I’m not sure if this is his first kind of online conversation but man it’s hard to listen to someone when they interrupt the other person talking so much. I find this so much in Calvinism. They rarely let the other person get their completed, thought out before interjecting, interrupting, and steering the conversation into a different subject. it was like listening to Fox or CNN. Quite frustrating

If you are unconditionally elect, what is the point of regeneration, or being born again?

Well done Robert Wiesner! I agree with your interpretations of Titus 3.5 and Romans 7-8! Your nuance Calvinism sounds a bit like prevenient grace! A move in the right direction.

John 5:24 ¶Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

Without pre-faith regeneration then you are either a Lutheran or Arminian to be Reformed. Any Calvinist true to their position will say that 'regeneration' is the fundamental corner-stone of the Calvinist soteriology...
