What is Kaizen? Continuous improvement is the best translation of this Japanese concept, which can be absolutely transformative when applied to a business. In this two-part interview, Paul Akers explains how.

Entrepreneur Paul Akers is best known as the father of the lean movement, and the Kaizen philosophy is perfectly in keeping with these ideals.

By always striving to find new ways to reduce waste and improve efficiency, a Kaizen company can become a lean company in no time. Paul uses these concepts to run his company, FastCap, and that business success is proof of how valuable a Kaizen process can be.

In this interview, Paul will explain the Kaizen 5S and how to apply these concepts to your business. Lean thought and continuous improvement impact every aspect of business, from workplace organization to how you interact with customers.

Today, we’ll look at some Kaizen examples that demonstrate these theories in the real-world, giving you a practical road map for using the ideas in your work and life.

Part of successfully implementing a new business process is getting your entire team on board. We’ll find out what kind of Kaizen training Paul utilizes with his employees to instill improvement as a core value. As you’ll see, a lean culture often improves workplace morale along with your bottom line when you do it right.

Sir,
I had searched for ''KAIZEN'' on google because I had to give a speech in my class on that...but the event got cancelled. I felt sad because I prepared for that good. After a few days I watched your video and I got more clear.
The event got cancelled so that I could watch your video to get clear understanding...
Thank you. 💐

I am just about to attend an introduction to Lean on February 10th. This has me so excited to learn and implement Lean to the company that I have worked in for 25 years 🖖👍

As a new business owner looking to hire people at some point, I will personally be following the Kaizen method and training my future employees to do the same.

LOve it. I hope in later videos you have recorded an entire morning meeting. I get it, but seeing it executed would be gravy.

Kaizen has always been continuous improvement even if it is small, so he didn’t modify the process he is simply using Kaizen the way it is intended. Also, he is using 5S methodology as well.

Sounds good. But one thing instantly comes to my mind is, how you make people actually work instead of making small adjustments all the time? ”Improving-mindset” should be reasonable because people are different on assessing, which needs to be improved. Some people to spend relatively huge amount of time on something that is a minor problem.

Great info to implement. Just for informational purposes, the symbols for Zen (good) and Zen (meditation) are not the same symbol, and they have different meanings. But of course this is not a video on linguistics. Keep up the good work.

Loving that at around 6mins 10seconds a lady in the background literally carries a box for a long-distance and for a long period of time. Editor? ;)

Paul is a legend. How would you recommend implementing 3S/morning meetings for a warehouse team of 3 people who basically polybag, bubblewrap & tape products?

I am wondering, what does Paul Akers do when he is down on the floor? How does he interact with his people? I was very impressed with how he knew many of the improvements that had been made.
