Honestly after losing 200+ lbs, I only continue 18 hr fast because IF helped me realize I need to have that full feeling. I try to be smart about it and if its a carb dump, i'll break it with a lean protein 30-60 minutes before that meal. I really have to have a time I can eat and can't eat. If I know I'm not in my window, I have such an easier time not thinking about food or giving in. It's all or nothing for me. On top of that it's helped my energy, my sleep, my mood, and come meal time, I enjoy it more.

That was the case for me. 16:8 didn't help me lose weight. 20-24h fasting helped initially, but then I stalled.
Then I went to 36h fasts, 3 times a week. That's game changer. Lost 30 pounds with it a matter of months.

Daily intermittent fasting and prolonged fasting without a doubt has kept my desired weight consistent. It has. Has introduced disciplined eating for me. Switching on and off does not work..for ME. once I start this these IF modifications it destroys my discipline and I overeat when I'm not on an everyday IF schedule. But everything works differently for different bodies and different people. I'm sticking to what I know works and keeps me on track everyday. It has become my way of life.

I’m currently on a prolonged fast and plan to do 2 days per week of fasting once I complete this fasting cycle. It is an amazing way to keep the body healthy and is more in tune with how evolution of humans would be. When we hunted our own food, we would go days without eating and feast when we did catch a meal.

Huge Thanks to you Thomas for all of the science and other stuff that you share with us all. I’m gonna put it out there that I can totally nerd out with you and do deep dives and totally understand how my body is going to function and why, how and when by the way you explain it to us and that’s amazing! Thanks again 🙏

I’m fasting 24 hrs 2x per week and a 48+hr x1 a month while maintaining a ketogenic lifestyle in the meantime. This schedule has helped me to reverse T2D and High BP and drop off all of the meds my primary Dr said I would need to be on for the duration?

I thought this was going to be about a different 16:8 timing because I've gone from eating from 12 - 8pm to 10am - 6pm or even 9am - 5pm and my sleep has improved dramatically! Plus the research suggests that protein consumption is more optimal before 10am. IF and low carb has been good for me but by changing the timing it feels like I have levelled up! If you haven't tried eating earlier and stopping eating earlier I'd HIGHLY recommend it!

It's not difficult to understand, people over think it. I lost 50 lbs in 3 months eating cheeseburgers eggs and steak. The key is one meal a day roughly the same time. I even ate cake and pie.

If you're training, I wouldn't go past 40 hours for a prolonged fast. And daily 16 hours fasting is still a good habit.

Better advice is don't start out with fasting when you start a diet. Start fasting when your diet plateaus. Fasting itself doesn't shed the pounds. What sheds the pounds is keeping your body guessing and not letting it adapt to whatever you're doing. General rule of thumb is if the scale does not budge after two weeks, try something different. Whether it fasting, cardio, fasted cardio, or simply checking your calorie consumption.

Hey Thomas! Do a video in preparation for Thanksgiving. Like the 175/25, 5:2, timing, etc, as you've mentioned recently and other ways to avoid storing fat. Like using allulose in deserts. I've already got a plan because you've delivered the info in many videos. Still, it'd be a good one.

How about some comments on doing healthy IM, but for people who have reached their weight goals and/or might need to put weight back on.

There was just a study on 12 vs 16, 16 way better but expect to lose muscle

So if you're just starting out, and have >100 lbs to lose, is it better to do daily IF until you get down to goal? or alternate day? for quickest results...

As asked in a previous video, what if you are doing IF day in day out, not only a few times a week and then also introduce the prolonged fasting? ;) Basically 5 days a week IF and the remaining 2 days you do PF as a shock..IF, if on keto at the same time is not about the cal reduction, so you can probably still get the cal count, you just don't break ketosis, right?

QUESTION- can you take creatine while intermittent fasting and not break the fasting benefits?

Why do I lose so much muscle when I do prolonged fasting?

I’ve been fasting for 496 days straight (no days off) with my avg being 22.5hrs/day with an avg eating window of 50min. I’ve lost over 160lbs and plan on continuing my 22hr fast for the foreseeable future. I work out every other day but will go to a 5 day workout schedule this coming year. Anyone else fast this long with no days off?
