A lot of light trespass issues come down to being a good neighbor. Would you leave music on all night that all your neighbors can hear? The same can be said of light. Leaving a light on all night that is trespassing onto your neighbors properties is just as disruptive. When we consider our impact on others, and the environment, we can make more thoughtful, educated decisions.

If people considered how their lights could be disruptive to their neighbors, we could avoid a lot of light trespass issues. But, many people don’t know what light trespass is and don’t think of it as a problem. As Shelana said, a lot of education is needed.
