My Father served on Iwo Jima. He enlisted. I am forever proud of those who fought so hard for freedom. He was 87 when he passed.

My Grandfather W. Thiede was right behind the cameraman during the first picture of the flag raising after taking that hill. He lived a long life in California. Survived a stroke that the doctor said he wouldn't be able to walk and talk, but proved them wrong with in two years. He was awesome and I miss him very much.

My grandpa is a vet he’s on hospice now on his way out. That man raised me and gave me the best childhood and I’ll cherish those memories forever.

A generation of men who fought bravely in the hell of war! I feel like crying when I hear this symphony. May they rest in peace

Rosenthal's picture of the 6 Marines raising the flag on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima always brings tears to my eyes knowing 3 of those men never made it off the island, and thousands more. All my heroes.

Love the music you've chosen to play as we watch these historic moments. It fits perfectly somber, power, and at the same time majestic. Well done.

To imagine such a beautiful place was once the scene of unimaginable horror. God bless all the brave men who fought and died for our freedoms. Our world is a lesser place without them.

Seeing the graves in the American cemetery is powerful but to know all the Marine dead were repatriated is amazing

The first picture with them with the flag in the picture of everyone on the beach man it just hit you certain way that you get choked up first thing that comes to mind is what these people gave up for our freedom, these men were the true heroes, no matter what anybody says no one could ever know what it’s like to be in war unless you were in their shoes and I guarantee you no one would want to be there if given the chance not in today’s day they don’t make heroes like they used to. God bless all those men.
