I feel emotional and teary eyed when I see these photos. Makes me think how generations face things in their day and the and all that’s left behind are memories of events and places that were important at that moment. For us, we respect and honor the brave soldiers who were there at these places at the right time and moment. Thank you for taking me there.

love these type of reels. my fathers father was a platoon leader of the 184th infantry. 7in div. he was promoted when they got back to Hawaii from the Aleutian islands. wounded twice phillipines in leyte by grenade shrapnel and in Okinawa by a japanese sniper advancing on the pinnacle. I read that the pinnacle was a 400+ foot coral ridge with a 30 foot spire.

My mothers father was a merchant marine in the Atlantic he was a welder and mechanic he tried to join the Navy while traveling to the UK then to Europe but they denied him on his vision. so he joined the army with the 9th armored division 9th armored engineers. He got there after the battle of the bulge but took part in capturing the bridge at remagen and partaking in liberation of flossburg concentration subcamp. a women and childrens camp. From him I have a Nazi's armband and medals one being a WW1 iron cross another being NSDP teachers union pin few other pins.

neither of my grandfathers talked about the war. not even to my father whom served in Vietnam. all my fathers father told my dad before deployment was when things start flying hit the dirt hug the earth like its nothing. I wish I could share pictures of my fathers father of the Marshall islands crazy scenarios these men had to go through

My father was there. Awarded a silver star and purple heart. He is the reason I joined the Corp. He died in a car accident 4 years ago at 95 years young.

People can quickly forget generations and what their grandfather's and father's fought for.
I pray that this country will be worthy of respect again. In our life time and for future generations.
