The thing I love About Europe, is that they don't destroy old structure

I love these before and after photos of WW2, having recently discovered them on YouTube. They are moving, poignant and sometimes sad. I find it interesting how the people in the now photos and videos are just going about their business, probably unaware of what went before in the exact places they are standing, walking or driving. That someone’s young life was cut short in that very spot or that a brave unknown person was there for a second many years ago. It moves me to tears.

My father was there so we can be here today. God bless our veterans and war hero’s. We owe them.

It's amazing little things like the dirt where the grass won't grow on Omaha beach to this day, to the small bell in the clocktower, so much is still the same. Fills me with great emotion every time I see these pictures. Thank you so much, sir....

Once again, thanks for a moving and intriguing compilation. I never tire of viewing these scenes, and often let it replay several times to appreciate the nuances.

It make me emotional, of course nostalgic, thinking of the soldiers those who never go back to there homeland and died in other's land far from there homeland...

I know i've said it before, but these short films are just brilliant. So well put together. I could watch hours of this stuff. It's all so moving. Well done... and thank you.

🙏🤲 My dad told us kids everything, he didn't hold anything back. He said he wants us to know everything no matter how bad it was to say. Dad fought in WWII, Pearl Harbor and he was blessed to make it back home. He was injured badly & he had to recover in a Military Hospital for 1yr. He told us that he was scared the entire time he was there, every one of them were scared & the worst part was losing their buddies. That's really the worst part about War, losing innocent ppl, losing ppl in combat ❤ God bless the fallen🕊 God bless The Greatest Generation🕊 God bless the World🕊 God bless U🕊🙏🤲🕊✝️😇❤️🇺🇸💙🪖🏅🫡🦅🌟✈️🛩⚓️🚢🌏🌹❣️🕯

i met an ederley american on a coach into victoria station (west london for those not sure)..about 20 years ago..he was in his mid/late 80s so he would be sadly long gone now...however i got chatting to him..over his visit etc..i find our cousins across the pond really good people...he was visting his english grand children, and he was a veteran of omaha beach..of which i was astounded..of not only the bravery (of which every service man/woman involved) the fact he survived even being injured..he said not a day goes by of that day..god bless him..just like my own grandad who passed away in 2003, he was a royal navy gunner attached to the merchant navy..he was sunk on the malta convoys..survived then fought in the battle of the atlantic..my grandmother was in amunitions..my grandad, shown me photos of him and his crew mates docked in texas..about 1940..obviously there on maybe the lendlease act or something to do the us navy and royal navy manoevers etc clearly the U.S navy was anticipating a year before pearl harbour..future involvement..how on earth did japan/ germany completely disregard not only the power of the U.S military..but the sheer power of the american workforce..im from the northeast (middlesbrough) but lived most of my life on the south coast..just outside pompey(portsmouth)..obviously for our american friends..the training/departure points mean a lot to them ..whereas for us..it was the summer of 1940. .during those few weeks..which were critical if our brave airmen had lost control of the air..we would of fought to the last..but an invasion would of happened..a different world altogether..thankgod for the few as we called them..also by 1944, southampton, portsmouth, plymouth, bristol just to name a few..had taking poundings..so no love was lost on absolutely hammering those german positions..god bless all those in those june 1944 days
