3 Training Mistakes Keeping You Small

About the video:
When it comes to building muscle, most guys don’t know what they should be doing. This is especially true for beginners who are unsure whether to cut or bulk and usually don’t even have a program that focuses on muscle growth. They spend a lot of time doing cardio or circuit training which ultimately leads them to lose muscle while in a calorie deficit. And then, we have a lot of confusion, especially around being in a calorie surplus and gaining body fat while building muscle. Many guys are afraid to lean bulk or gain any weight, which also ends up limiting their muscle gaining potential.

And in this video, I go into 3 big muscle building mistakes that prevent guys from gaining muscle. I go into common diet and workout mistakes that you need to avoid if you want to develop a muscular physique. Implement this advice and I’m confident you’ll see results on your fitness journey!

Mario, good morning. "Stop rushing the workouts, " you mentioned in this video, and that's what I took away from it. I feel like I've been hurrying in the past due to family obligations, but for the past few weeks, I've set aside an extra 20 minutes, slowed down, and most importantly, reminded myself that my workouts are for my muscles, not my cardio, and it's helped. I always like seeing my notification flash up when you release a new video. Tim

The 1st point is exactly what I needed to hear. I've been in a calorie deficit while trying to recomp as much as possible. Now I'm at the weight I wanted to see, but a bit disappointed with the results visually. I need to lean bulk, but there is definitely a fear/mental hurdle when it comes to going into surplus. Weird how that happens. Thanks for the great videos.

Absolutely on point. I've xperienced all of these myself and currently having a prooblem with consistency. I am fully aware of what's the problem but still in a tough period with my training. More of an excersizing lately...

thanks for the video! sometimes there's too much focus in losing weight and not enough in building muscle, and that definitely helps push us into the point 1 problem, a fear of eating more! once you really get your nutrition in check though, it really comes into perspective how things really are

I think the biggest issue is, that a day only has 16ish hours (assuming you sleep for 8). Working a full day (8-12 hours), walking enough and on top of that watching nutrition and resisting temptations is really hard to do for months on end.

Hey Mario, I think point 1 is not applicable for people like me who have lost a bunch of weight (so definitely not skinny) from 34% currently at 19% body fat, trying to get to 15% body fat while building muscle simultanously.
According to your previous video, doing the following since 5 months.

1) Small calorie deficit
2) eating protein - 0.8 gms/pound of bodyweight
3) weight training
4) staying active by doing cardio
5) sleep well

Please do comment!

I really find myself many times doubting when advising skinny fat people what to do nutrition wise (bulking/cutting first...). Look, I understand the advantages of advising not cutting first =recomp = very lean bulking as in video, but on my experience it takes very often months, if not years, to have a newbie to stick to a well rounded hypertrophy program, and he better not eat too much until this happens, because he might find himself much fatter by the time he learns how to train and then his cut will be much more difficult to do. Sometimes is better to focus on getting a shredded look via caloric deficit from skinny fat (even if that means you will look smaller in clothes) while learning to train hard, and once this is done and good training is in place, go for bulking. Congrats on the well deserved 300K subs Mario!
