Blasting through the concentric can be good in some exercises because that'll make you more powerful in moves like the Squat or bench press..On the other hand the eccentric motion of the exercise should be slow

hey VINCE, i want to ask that is it possible for me to grow 15 lb of muscle in 3 months naturally ? As iam 6 freet tall, and weighs 165lbs . i have been lifting since 19 months

Vince, I like the way you are presenting lighter weights and more control of the weight through the entire range of motion - your 5 lb lifting demo really proves the point. With that, how does that affect TEMPO? When there are programs that suggest a 4010 it is difficult not to "blast" the concentric portion. You have TEMPOs in your program...are you going to change your programs based on what you're presenting now. I usually change them to 4141 where it is slow and controlled throughout the movement. Being 68, I'm using the lighter weights and doing iso-dynamic-contractions to save my joints. I can do your 100 reps shoulder workout without any weight and feel the burn - it takes longer, but is safer for me. Thanks for your point of view it has helped me with my training.

What about when we train for explosiveness for athletes? Or its just something that I have to sacrifice to train in that type.
