I fully agree with you on the benefits of backwards walking., especially when you walk backwards barefooted on a smooth asphalted road. It relieves of your knee pain and feet pain. As you mentioned when we walk forwards, our heels touches the ground first and then our toes. But when you walk backwards it is all on the contrary. Walking is the driver of healthy living. I appreciate that. Thumbs up!
Cheers!

Great low impact exercise. Do a search for the benefits of this form of exercise at Walking Backward: Benefits for Mind and Body. Then start learning / doing this. All you need is a clear space in your home to go forward then backwards. Warning: it can be addicting. After while you will see the benefits mentioned in the article will become evident.

I've just started walking backwards to see if it would help with lower back pain,
and so far it's unbelievably working. I'm in my late 60's, and can do 50 pushups,
and 70 situps, which I do 3 times per week. Also I'm 160 lbs so the back pain was
not from being overweight. I saw another video on this, and somewhat laughed at
it, thinking it wouldn't work, but tried it anyways. I can only walk backwards for
about 1/2 a mile, and my muscles get very tired, likely coz I don't use them, but I
can jog forwards 2-3 miles, and do so, 3 times a week. I've been walking backwards
now for about a week, and I'm noticing a "big" improvement in my lower back
pain, and will continue to do this, and maybe my lower back pain will completely
go away. I was really quite astonished that this would work, but it appears it does.

Well finally! Workout your biceps you work at your triceps. This makes so much sense if you do leg extensions you would do like curls opposite muscles I'm just starting to walk again so backwards walking is part of my regimen now!

❤ *I've added this to my daily walking at the local High Schools track. I started doing it because I saw another video that said it worked other muscles and was healthy. Came here to be reminded of what those benefits are*

No Joke here! I'm living proof, L-5, S-1 stenoisi three herniated discs. I have tried everything, medically and physically, I have a home gym with many options . I just started going backwards on my ellipitical , and what a relief, I started with 5 minutes my first day, my second day was only 2 minutes until my legs gave out, I think I got anxious went too fast. Today I started at level 6 like always, used to do forward motion at the highest level which is 16 for 30 minutes .The trick is to not get ahead of yourself, go at a slow pace , I hold the stationary handles, you can actually feel the difference mentally and physcially, I actually did 10 minutes. I have set my goal at 10 minutes everyday for about 2 weeks. I also walk the dog at the park trail everyday for 30 minutes and have notice a spring in my step.

This was a wonderful presentation. I’ve always wanted to try walking backwards on a treadmill at the gym so that’s what I’m going to start today. I will let you know of my progress in a few weeks. Btw, I’m 73 yrs young! Thanks!

Agree with all this. I also have two hills on my daily run. I find running backwards for 100 metres on each of these hills has found muscles in my legs that I didn’t even know I had !

Lower back pain reduced completely, can again sit for long hours at my PC. A grandpa in our society, 80+ does this, I am 60 & recently started having lower back pain, otherwise in perfect health. Go for it, you’ll not regret. Yes, you will increase the duration soon after noticing the benefits.
