Overcoming fear, anxiety & depression — a video diary

This week, i had a lovely conversation with my sister, Amanda Leo about fear, anxiety and depression. I used to struggle with anxiety, heaviness and despair almost on a daily basis. There were 2 separate seasons of my life where I frequently contemplated ending it all but The Lord has brought me to a place of joy. I treasure and guard that joy fiercely. My joy is not rooted in things but in my knowledge of God's character. I am convinced that He is good and kind. So whenever life or circumstances try to shift my focus or whisper lies about who God is, I step back and throw my heart it thanksgiving. There will always be an evidence of God's love in our lives — even if all you can find to be thankful for is your salvation, the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for you on the cross? You can thank Him for that 🤍

"When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:17)

I am pretty much indisciplined in most areas

For anyone listening to this, in a situation of hopelessness looking for light and God, please understand that deliverance will never be the same for everyone, Chimamanada's testimony will almost never happen to anyone exactly, please do not limit God's work in you to a particular occurrence and fail to see what he actually has for you ❤

One major lesson I learned from my season of hopelessness what to always depend on God. In those days my first instict was to look for someone to reach out to and talk to about it and I would find that there was no one to talk to about this. Now I know that God was teaching me to run to him first and not to man. The funny thing was that there was a friend of mine who I would just dump all my worries on. I didn't know it then but recently when we were having a conversation, she told me those things were too overwhelming for her to carry. Then I understand that man can not carry what is meant for God to carry. It would wear one down.

Disappointment, loss, grief, poverty… you name it. I’ve experienced it this year.

I’m tired. But it is well. This was so useful. It gave me some strength. I’d continue in Jesus name, amen

I love how Amanda mentioned going back to that pattern, to that thing and how spiritual warfare is going back to those bad systems the devil has built in us and how we need to create new systems to ensure these patterns are erased and replaced with the right ones ❤
