The price of honor. The power of friendship. THE KARATE KID, Part II. Ralph Macchio and Noriyuki "Pat" Morita re-create the roles that brought them international acclaim in The Karate Kid. Karate student, Daniel Larusso (Macchio), accompanies his wise and whimsical teacher, Mr. Miyagi (Morita), to his ancestral home in Okinawa. For the boy, it's a journey to an exotic new world offering new clues to his mentor's secret past. For Miyagi, it's an opportunity to see his father one last time and tore kindle a romance with his childhood sweetheart (Nobu McCarthy). But Miyagi's return also re-ignites a bitter feud with long-time enemy, Sato (Danny Kamekona) - a feud that involves young Daniel in a brilliant collision of cultures and combat. Now, far away from the tournaments, the cheering crowds and the safety of home, Daniel will face his greatest challenge ever when teacher becomes student and the price of honor is life itself.

Can you imagine the call to Daniel's mom if Chozen had won? "Mrs. LaRusso, Miyagi here. Weather nice today here in Okinawa. I regret to inform you that Daniel-San is dead."

Never realized how good of a fight scene this is. For most of it, no music or cheesiness. Really does a good job showing the contrast between this and the first movie with the tournament ending.

36 years later both of them sing Eye of the Tiger with Johnny in a limo driven by Mike Barnes

You can really feel the difference between the final fight in the first movie and this one. In the first movie Johnny is just trying to win and prove a point to Daniel but in this movie Chozen is out for blood. The tone shift is awesome and it adds more tension.

It really emphasises the power of chozen, that the crane kick which was such a powerful and significant move in the first one, is just so easily countered and stopped. It is also in the middle of the fight and not just as a finisher

I get chills every time @03:36 when Miyagi tells Daniel that this is not a tournament this is for real.

"Daniel-Son, this Not tournament ... This for Real. So if you need to pick up a brick or statute or something to throw at his head, you Do it!!" 😂🤣

In hindsight, sparing Chozen was the BEST decision Daniel-san has ever made.

Ralph Maccio is a legend in Karate kid.
In Cobra kai, all the characters are legends (Johnny, Daniel, Hawk, Miguel, Robby, Tory, Sam, Chozen, Mike), every nice characters

Daniel, Chozen and Kumiko reunited 34 years later. Daniel and Chozen joined forces against Cobra Kai.

When the universe thought that life was over. We watch this and Karate Kid 2; we still feel like we are part of it back in the 80s.

Miyagi taught Daniel the Drum Technique, Sato didn't teach Chozen that technique. When Miyagi pulls out the drum, Sato knows Chozen is at a disadvantage and pulls his drum out as well. It was the only way for Daniel to defeat Chozen . Brutal, poetic and well executed scene!

Very well done choreography. This really feels like a fight to the death, not an endless elaborate choreographed dance.

The lack of music almost during the entire fighting sequence made to feel it more brutal than already is. In retrospective, you could say that Chozen is the most dangerous of all the opponents Daniel had to face by a big gap, not only because of his fighting skills but because he was determined to finish Daniel.
You can tell that the writers of Cobra Kai love him and that they wanted to redeem the character. I dont know about it honestly, i mean i really like Chozen in Cobra Kai but, for me, it is hard to conciliate the character from the movie with the character from the series. He seemed like a psycho. The fact that he wanted to kill Daniel for real and also that he held a knife to kumiko´s throath is hard to overlook. What Jhonny and Mike Barnes did was child play in comparisson.
