If God Exists Everything Is Permitted
Показать описание
This video showcases some common arguments people use to defend the killing of children and babies in the bible.
People use God to justify all kinds of atrocity, and they mitigate guilt not necessarily though making amends with their victims, but through what is ultimately a selfish exercise of forgiving oneself by using the concept of God as a proxy, and asking God’s forgiveness (who conveniently always gives forgiveness). When defending the bible, theists who fancy themselves moral realists often fall back onto moral and cultural relativism, with accusations of presentism for their critics, to rather inappropriately defend the actions of a God who is supposed to be timeless and morally unchanging, and they do this by appealing to the culture of the people who told us of this particular deity. In truth they’re engaging in the same practice that made people think it was morally right to fly planes into buildings, and why we justify occupying foreign lands to this very day.
If you can support my work, and are so inclined, it is greatly appreciated. You can do so per video on Patreon or per month on SubscribeStar (I usually only post once per month anyway, and I use both sites in mostly the same way, posting the same updates and giving credit to supporters, etc).
