Just a quick tip, if you ever need to get out of a car with a driver who refuses to stop just tell them you're going to puke. No one wants vomit in their vehicle, most will pull over.

I was dating a girl and I was warned by her girlfriend that she had jumped out of the moving car of a previous boyfriend, got messed up and told the police that he pushed her. I was taking her home from a bar one night and we were arguing. Having been warned, I was watching her and sure enough, she grabbed the door handle and tried to get out of my truck while going down the highway. I grabbed her waistband and held on while slowing to a stop. The whole time she was trying to jump out. Once we were stopped I let go and told her NOW she could get out. She decided she didn't want to get out then. I got out, went around and dragged her out of my truck and locked the door. I left her standing on the side of the road and never had contact with her again.

A friend's sister had her husband die jumping out of a car doing 30 mph. They were arguing and he got mad and jumped out like in the movies except it's real life where being hit in the head by pavement at 30 mph can lead to life ending brain trauma.

I love the way they gave her a break -
- without giving her a break.

“I have no one “ “it’s literally me and her” my heart is broken. R.I.P
Edit: The replies make me lose hope in humanity. OBVIOUSLY drunk driving is wrong. Choosing to drive WITH someone who’s drunk is ALSO wrong. That doesn’t suddenly make the situation any less heartbreaking wtf is wrong with you people?!

She sure sobered up quickly. That has to be the worst feeling ever. That's why I stopped drinking years ago.

That officer was amazing. He should be teaching other officers how to handle a situation. He was compassionate and professional. She was drinking and driving and he never threw it in her face. The situation is heartbreaking. This poor girl. I hope she can heal mentally from this. 😢

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I feel like this could've easily been me and any of my dumb friends when I was young. I think the vast majority of us are simply lucky that our poor decisions didn't become our biggest regrets. I remind my kids often that there is NO excuse for driving drunk! I'll be there anytime, anywhere. Especially in todays 'uber' society. Its too easy to get a ride. My heart hurts for this girl. Irrespective of her poor decisions, she's a young girl whose life has been hugely & permanently marred by what I'm sure she believed was a minor indescretion. Damn...

The officer was so kind, he cares for his community and the people in it. Good job to the officer, we need more like you.

My stomach dropped when he asked about the phone for contact information of the dead girl. These moments that he is looking for the phone are the last minutes the dead girls parents will ever have with their hearts complete. The impending heartbreak gives me such a feeling of dread. My heart goes out to the family

The family literally still listed this girl in her obituary. She loved her friends. Intoxicated people make mistakes.

How tragic all around, just heart breaking and I must say I was floored by that Police Officer's compassion and professionalism. Some people were born to Protect and Serve, he is a fantastic officer.

A good friend of mine is currently serving life in prison, for drinking and driving. She hit a man walking, who unfortunately didn't make it. Her entire life has been thrown away, from a bad decision she made. And another man's life was lost. Think twice people before getting behind the wheel while impaired.

She has ‘nobody”, that is so very sad, no one to call that could get her dogs, no one who cares. This is such a cold & lonely world for many out there. Be kind to people, you don’t know what their reality is.

It’s not her fault that her friend jumped. I have seen so many things like that happen. 😢 Most often they are just trying to get the person home safe before they get themselves arrested or worse. Biggest mistake is thinking if you speed up they won’t jump. They will! The second someone drunk threatens to jump stop immediately because they WILL! It’s hard to remember that if a drunk person is going to get arrested it’s not up to us to stand in their way and sacrifice ourselves. Sometimes it can be for the best. At least they are safe. 😢

this is really sad and i hope the girl will be able to overcome this rip her friend. also it is incredibly rare to see an actual peace officer in this day and age you can really hear how concerned he is we need more like this man, he should definitely be the standard for how cops act in this kind of situation
