My mom sat down with me once and had a very honest conversation with me about drinking and driving. She’s kinda sorta a functioning alcoholic however she never drinks and drives. Not after one night when she was about 21/22 years old. She lived in Appalachia so driving most places involved driving on mountain roads. She was driving home from the bar and passed out at the wheel. She was found in a ditch off the right side of the road. The left side of the road however was a complete drop off a mountain basically speaking if the car would have went to the left instead she would have went off a mountain and more than likely died. That one moment would have wasted her life before it really began and I wouldn’t even exist. It was a wake up call and put a lot of perspective on the topic.

Why not just skip the field tests and JUST do a breathalyzer? The field tests seem archaic. Especially when they have the breathalyzer right there the whole time.

These stops show that when you are calm and respectful, things go much easier. You may still get arrested, but you don't get manhandled, don't get tazed and most importantly, you don't add multiple charges.
