As an electramechanlumber, I say this is some great work.

I worked for a plumber for 3 years and sweating pipe was my favorite especially in a dark tight cramped crawl space with just my headlamp and my soldering kit and some snakes, mice, spiders and good knows what else, wet insulation and mud, maybe a waste pipe that has been draining for months where I had to crawl through was the icing on the cake. This video is to clean.

You should always apply solder on the other side of the heat so you know it is hot enough to get the solder around everything.

We just moved into a house with a well with very low water pressure. I’ll using what you showed here to refresh what I learned in high school. 🤌🏼

You don’t have to wipe the solder around the fitting either. It draws all the around the fitting. You will see a drip start to form on the bottom of the joint. That’s when you know joint has enough solder. 👍

WoW ... THAT was beautiful.
Almost brought a tear to my eye.
Thx for the "soldier at the bottom".

Here's a tip u can turn your coupling into a slip coupling by tapping it down on a scrap piece of copper which is useful if the pipe is installed and has no movement

Anyone can solder DRY it becomes a challenge once water becomes involved.
Like on an OLD system that just won't stop dripping.

Heat that coupling back up and pull it apart. Then we will see how good that sweat was.

I learned about all of this stuff through the power of home depot lol

I’ve always heated from the bottom and added solder from the top.

Wiping the excess flux is the key to a clean finish

This is the first time I've seen someone do this with gloves on LOL

Start from the top. So the silver flows down and around

It depends on the use of the copper pipe but for drinking and water it is ok to use flux on the inside of the cupping but in a refrigeration unit it's never ok to put flux on the inside of the cupping as it will form acids but if it's not for refrigeration it looks great

Emery cloth for sanding and pocket knife for deburring...old school has worked just fine for many years and for thousands of homes and buildings throughout the country...fancy tools didn't always exist

Wow, fittings in Australia have the solder already in them

Very good job. I haven't soldered alot but I did a run of copper probably 300 ft from the machine to a place I could tap into the air line. The more I did it the easier it got

As a person who brazes this is good until he joins the two pipes. You supposed to force the Sauter into the joint
