another tip i like is pressing your finger inside of fittings and then measuring the imprint the threads make on your finger to get the depth 😅

2 things a 20 year pro will tell you
#1 - heat the fitting, not the pipe
#2 DO NOT wipe the pipe with acid afterwards, it causes corrosion!

Great way to get leaks let the pipe cool naturally then clean

clean it up with an acid brush and come back the next day to a giant pile of green oxidation!

Heat the fitting not the pipe when soldering, solder follows the heat

I like the flexibility of not soldering my copper in place. You never know if existing pipes have play or not. Slip couplings are also key
