As a rule, Nathan is correct, don't limp . If it's good enough to open, it's good enough to raise. I sometimes use limping as a deceptive play against overly agressive opponents. Not often, but it does have a place. Limp->3bet? Yes! If you have a strong hand and are reasonably sure your limp will draw a squeeze from the agressive player it's a move that puts them in a bad spot. This will sometimes open an opportunity later to see a cheap flop with a marginal hand too. But... honestly, just raise first in, it's a better play 99.99% of the time.

As a beginner I watched this like ‘don’t limp against the c fish, always bet against a flat handed fish flip. But never against a c card double ace pair flop, as that makes it harder to be aggressive against the table squabble’
- that’s my advice.

8:36 was the moment I knew that I was the fish… this is humbling

The absolute best tip I got for winning more was to do modest raises before the river if you have a strong belief in your hand to weed out others with weak hands so they don’t have random pair hits or even 3 of a kind and beat you out

Thank you so much for the content. I’m amazed there aren’t more individuals doing these types of lessons. Makes this feel even more valuable.

So for implementing the last tip, are you usually able to distinguish fishies from simply weak players pretty quickly?

Thanks again! Enjoying the podcast as well. What a great game this is.

Most of the time regarding limping, is that you should absolutely should avoid limping first in.

However, when you’re at one of those annoyingly aggro tables where you constantly get 3bet, limping with speculative hands(suited connectors, suited aces, and small pocket pairs) can actually be a viable strategy. Giving up control over the pot can be an acceptable compromise in exchange for actually being able to get to a flop at a reasonable price. There’s no point in constantly having to cough up 10+ big blinds every time you want to set mine with pocket 3s.

Playing home games with my friends, I gotta pussy-foot with raises and play semi-trash hands for the first hour. After that, everyone had a few beers amd they loosen up... I tighten up.
They continue to assume I am playing trash (like them😂) and will call bigger raises... and never seem to notice the change in strategy.

I appreciate the self promo being at the end of the video. It allows us to consume the content and then decide if it’s investment worthy

I think there’s a time for open-limping. If someone behind me is opening or raising preflop too often, I’ll limp and call or three-bet when it comes back around. It all depends on the table.

One more tip that I found useful: Be aggressive in the Button and Big Blind.

Here’s the thing. If you’re patient enough, it’s impossible to lose at the microstakes with this strategy. Can you win a tournament with it? No. High stakes? No. But solid ABC against the fish works so well

“Nice hand, way to hang in there” is my favorite response to the river bad beat

I also like to always see the flop with Ace duce because u have a small shot at a straight, pair of aces, and if u get 2 twos no one thinks anyone is gonna play with a duce so goof implied odds

I’ve been a limper! Point was to increase the pot I was going to win but that’s been few and far between. Great tips. Subscribing!

I just played for the third time ever with some friends without watching any videos and just getting help on the fly. Definitely was the fish but damn it felt good to win. Decided I needed to actually learn so hopefully I can win more than just a couple of hands the next time my buddies play.

Great tips man! About the 'never limp' advice.... at low stakes cash games online, everybody limps and nobody seems to care if you 3 bet pre flop. Then you don't know where you're at on the flop. I find this can bleed money to low quality hands hitting the flop.
