I’ll be 44 next week and I just recently started using what you said in your first tip. It’s actually cut down on my spending significantly! Even my husband noticed. 😂 Glad I found your channel! ❤

Christie, your ability to speak to us extensively without reading notes is really admirable! Your topic today was thought provoking, particularly for me the concept of deserving more, not settling. Your personal story of waiting 15 years 😮 for a certain jacket to show up was amazing! Love your blouse today. It's delicacy is very well contrasted by the bold earrings. Thanks so much for being the thinking woman's style & fashion expert. 🤗

“Buy clothes that you love.” That totally resonated. Always en point, Christie you are a rock star! Keep inspiring the heck out of us. So happy when you post new videos. 🤗

Love your topic today. It really helps to know these things about how to level up. Someone once said "know thyself" and that has always beeen true. To know what makes us feel good and look good are priceless. Let go of the negative and hold on to the positive.

Christie, as always, your video was timely and relevant! My three takeaways in order of relevance: a) COMMITMENT, because my default is battered loungewear... b) EVOLVE, because through the past year of the pandemic, my favorite, fallback, classic black clothes just aren’t doing it for me anymore, and c). Buying and wearing only what I LOVE. I’ve been settling a bit lately, which I think comes back around to the commitment part of things.

Love this! Staying committed is my mantra this year! I'm totally changing my style and have realized that this takes time. Rather than being impatient with finding items I love, I'm enjoying the process of really honing into what fits for my body and what I love! It's definitely a process, but I know it'll be with it. Thank you! 🙏♥️

I'm really loving the Style Society! I am a bariatric patient and have lost a considerable amount of weight, so I am loving the support and guidance I'm getting, even though I've only recently joined.

Ugh the first tip is already so on point. I’ve been bad about that. I usually go straight to the clearance section and settle for whatever is there instead of really curating my style. I settle and TRY to make it work.

I learned to save and hold out for what I REALLY wanted in all facets of my life in my 20s. I loved the styles then but could not afford to wear the boho dresses and skirts I loved in the 60s and 7ps. I was a poor student for a decade working toward a PhD. I knew I would make those degrees....AA, BA, MA, PhD pay off and they did for ME, not advising it for others, but for me denying myself nice clothes, and all the other self denial strategies...studying while others partied etc, made the next decades 30 to my 70s fantastic. I wore jeans, tshirts, sweaters...but that was the style for college studnets however, mine were really really OLD. When I got my first professional job it was 1979 and I invested in a career wardrobe from Saks and Lord & Taylor suit or silk blouse at a time and built it over five years into, a wardrobe that lasted the next 15 yrs of my career. I moved to a more remote university to teach and administer where there were no, such stores so that was a terrific investment.

I retired early at 50 to sail the Caribbean with my husband, so I donated everything and replaced it with shorts, bathing suits, a few long pants, a couple, of light jackets all, fitting into an area of two suitcases boat storage space is at a premium and boat parts are more important than clothes. THese were replaced from time to time because sun drying on a boat really wears out clothes fast! Once we moved back ashore in the tropics to renovate and expand a house we bought it was long pants, jeans and tees. Once the house was done we had met lots of people and began a busy social lofe so, I needed and bought nicer clothes and before COVID we took lots of cruises fromthe US to, Europe so lots of international travel clothes, easily packable things but more sophisticated than I had worn since my career.

Each phase of my life has been so different from the one before I had to totally change what I wore in my previous life. I have learned what works best for me and only rarely follow trends. I like that blazers came back for sportswear as wearing them to work in the past made me feel natural in them and I know how to pick the ones for my petite body...shorter, not long, fitted, not boxy and never oversize. I love the current trend of puff at the tops of sleeves, large circular collars on sleeveless bodysuits for summer under linen skirts. I wear fit and flare dresses, v neck always....never sheaths. I love clothes but I could switch that love off when more important things were primary in my life, eg sailing, designing and building a home but I always enjoy getting back to dressing...for me it is a creative outlet.
