The fact that he not only told us the most important thing, but also demonstrated it shows what a great writer Alan Moore is.

A not-so-subtle jab at Neil Gaiman's own Masterclass. ;)

He's become that loving old grandparent who also wants to make life miserable for your parents.

Misdirection, sabotaging the pretense of the previous statement with the second statement, when you really meant the first. Both are true. How can you be honest when all you tell is lies? Is it possible?

both maybe are very important (buti think he is making that point), and VERY well told! :)

Both could be true. You have to be honest enough to pour your own soul and what you believe is a good story for the readers because if you're not honest with your readers, they'll see you as someone you're not, they'll expect something you're not, you'll have to pretend your whole life.

The other.... Nah I'm also fucking with you it's only misdirection.

Wow, I was thinking huh, that's a load of bullshit from Mr Moore, but he pulled it off.

Well, I disagree. You have to respect your audience enough to be honest with them and say the truth.
In the words of Hemingway, “there’s nothing to writing, all you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” Also the epigraph to my book.

Misdirection? Like giving royalties to a terrorist group? Remind me, that money's not being pocketed by any one person, is it?
