I shoot a lot of landscapes using vintage Schneider DKL mount lenses adapted to Canon EF mount. 38mm, 50mm and 130mm. Nice large circle lenses designed for medium format cameras.

Focal length is definitely a factor for landscape photography and you need lenses from wide to telephoto according to the requirements of the scenes and medium wide-angle to medium telephoto is preferably used for landscape and zoom lenses take a lot of burden away from using separate prime lenses but to attain clarity, sharpness, and extra bite in pictures you need to have fast and heavy lenses which are heavily expensive, only you can compromise on less expensive lenses with the results you get from them! But if you aren't struggling with low light conditions and there's a plenty of light you can produce good results in landscape by using slower and cheap lenses! The slower lenses give you results in conditions where you work with unclear atmospheres like fogy and overcast situations because slower lenses could be used to enhance those hazy situations because the lenses have little strength to unite the molecules suspended in the air making the haze more pronounced than fast and sharper lenses and the zone of confusion starts nearer when you shoot with these lenses! Another advantage of using slower lenses is that you can use slower shutter speeds in bright light situations giving you take the advantage of making moving objects invisible when required! In saying so I'm not degrading the expensive zoom lenses for landscape photography, I'm just giving my opinion in favor of inexpensive slower lenses and you cannot deny the zone of focus of unmatched clarity of very fast and expensive lenses!

Just got my prints from our trip to Pedernales Falls. They weren't bad, and in fact, they were better than what I was taking a year ago. But I still need to practice more. They looked great on a small screen, but noticably blurry when printed larger.

800mm, don't even try to argue it

F2.8 to f8 is stepping down the aperture. Not up. Stepping down refers to the physical action of the aperture blades closing down to a more narrow opening. Hence why “stepping up” is the wrong description

Nikon D3400 cameras are great cameras for beginners

F2.8 for landscape doesnt make sense as you not only lose out on focus, but optical performance from slmost any lens is sacrificed wide open.
