I find those reflections giving me some very nice natural feel in my photos, shooting with a circular polarizer is like putting my highlights to 0 in Lightroom. But I see how it can work great

I’ve never thought of using this for portraits. Definitely going to give it a shot. I usually only use it for car shoots.

These are also great for videography. With a variable CPL you can gradually shift from one phase to the next, so the audience can watch the reflections disappear in real time. It's great for things like revealing the driver of a car, for example.

A few caveats with CPL filters. Works best on non-metalic objects and it also strongest when the main light is at 90 degrees from the view.

For my low-end Nikon DSLR (that I never use but want to start using again now it's beginning of 2023), I had bought polarizing filters for all my lenses. For some reason, I think "outdoors" or "skies" for use of a polarizer. Going to try it on portraits. Sounds like an excellent idea (of which, if I ever knew before, I obviously forgot).
