I mean with Okinawa Japan hosting an American military base and the US regularly parking Aircraft Carriers just beyond Chinese influence of the sea, America would help, its not if, but when American involvement would begin and if involvement could outlast the Chinese or would Taiwan be like Vietnam or Afghanistan

There are only two or three beaches they could land at and the Taiwanese would have plenty of wanting time to prepare it would take months for china to get together a force large enough to take the island and Taiwan would likely fortify the hell out of the beaches witb mines and pre ranged artillery

China doesn't have a blue water navy. They can't sail far from home without extensive support, and Taiwan is 80 miles away. All of their ships are pretty small, and they only have three aircraft carriers that are half the size of an American aircraft carrier, so it's more like 1.5 carriers. China is currently in the process of refitting small container ships into troop carriers. The earliest they could invade would be early 2030's... and then maybe. It won't happen anytime soon, but if they tried they would get smoked.

When looking at this situation, it’s important to know how the other side might be viewing the situation. Imagine that the US civil war was not in the far past but within the last 100 years, and then when the confederates lost, they went to Hawaii and said “this is our country now” and then other countries on earth starting supporting that country as its own nation. The US would be PISSED, and so it’s not really that surprising to me that china wants this island back. And if you are upset that china isn’t going through or isn’t very accepting of western ideals, or the west in general, remember that Great Britain forced China to allow them to sell them TONS of opium, and when china lost the opium wars they basically had to give up sovereignty of a decent chunk of land to Britain where British law and customs were followed. Can you IMAGINE how USA citizens would react and feel if a major US city like San Francisco was ruled by CCP laws and not controlled by the us. We’d LOSE OUR MINDS, so while I want people to choose their own path and have their freedoms, understand that if America were put in chinas position, I doubt we’d still be playing so nice…

This is pure political propaganda. The USA, just like almost every nation on Earth recognises the One China Policy, which dictates the Taiwan IS China, it’s a Semi-Autonomous Chinese territory. Suggesting Chinese wants to invade Taiwan is like saying the US government wants to invade California. And before people start suggesting Taiwan has a right to self determination (which they should), that argument becomes invalid if you then refuse to accept places like Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk have the same right.
