I love how like 90% of Jocko's advice can be boiled down to simply taking action rather than giving in to various forms of paralysis.

We're both military men. The correct term is "forward." When you want to shirk back into the shadows, you step forward. Forward, march!

step agressively in what you fear, take actions, stop planing, stop complaining, stop thinking. and just step.

This made me tear up. I have deep deep self doubt. And this hit so hard. I wish my dad would have told me this when I was 14

That is actually what is stopping me, myself and not actually taking a step! I feel like this is great advice and can be tailored to anyone’s life, no matter where we are in our journey ❤️

A person having a fear and overcoming it with courage. I would rather be that person than someone who is fearless.

Ty. I wish I'd seen this when it was first published. I'm 59 and standing on the ledge of fear launching my startup MVP. I'm so scared of failure.

I'm gonna listen to this clip every morning for a few months and see what happens.
Every difficulty can be made 1000x
More impossible with fear and hesitation; when fear and hesitation are the default reaction you will never make the
Step.

Fear in the modern world comes from overthinking... detaching from the body and living inside your mind.. this is the problem. Solution? Reframe your mind, then ground yourself in your body. Deep forceful breathing (Wim Hof Method), cold showers, and pushups until exhaustion will eliminate most fears since you will be back in your body

sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we don't own the environment. There may well be elements, critical elements that we don't control. How do we take ownership then. Easier than we think, I think, :-) Owning our own personal outcomes may well require a wider view. We may not control the specifics of our situation, but we DO control in a larger sense our choices; be it as it relates to relationships, job, career, etc. This is why, as you point out FEAR or the conquering of fear is front and center. Yea, it took mountains of courage for you to take ownership and offer your field resignation. But your values DICTATED that. Many times, the taking owndership action we have to take means a total change of plans (or maybe plans we should have considered earlier than whatever crisis point comes up.) It is just so easy to go victim, for some. But deep down, most of us are haunted when we do that. I think about Bill Belichek and his mantra of acting sooner rather than later. When we start getting frustrated over situations we can not control we usually wait too long. (Overreacting too quickly is not good as well.). I work with a client base where I get last minute cancellations, too often. I am tired of it. THAT is my fault for tolerating it. I have to make changes, procedurally and moving to different client bases. Big change can be scary. But by not acting we are making a decision to NOT ACT. Thanx for all you do and for your service.
