Having a beautiful, healthy face is extremely important in our society and people are putting more time and energy researching anti-aging techniques that could help prevent the inevitable aging process.

A little known fact that can help keep you looking young as you get older is to keep your teeth! It may not be the first thing you think of, but one of the best ways to look younger is to make sure that the bone in your face and jaw stays strong and healthy.

High cheekbones and a properly proportioned jawline is what most seem to be drawn towards as a desirable facial structure. So when you lose this facial structure, your lower jaw begins to extend and your upper jaw starts to collapse or sink in. This leads to the appearance that you are older than you might actually be.

The best advice that we can give you to look younger for longer is to keep all of your teeth!

Adequate oral hygiene by brushing and flossing is critical!

Proper Brushing Techniques

Proper Flossing Techniques

Other things that can keep your facial bones and skin healthy is by having adequate calcium in your diet. Vitamin D, is a hugely beneficial vitamin that we get from the sun. And lastly you must exercise your body!

Make sure you use all the muscles and bones in your body including your jaw, keep that muscles and bones stimulates so that you can look younger and have a healthy face as you age.

Dr. Nemeth mentions vitamin D, however, additionally it is important to assure one's vitamin K2 intake is sufficient. K2 acts to move calcium out of the blood (where too much can contribute to plaque) and into bones, teeth, and soft tissues where it is used for many purposes.

To emphasize, it is necessary to supplement with K2 for this purpose, not K1, which fills other roles (including coagulation of the blood).

This is just about looks but more needs to be done also from the inside:
*Read books for brain stimulation
*Meditation for mindfulness
*Get outside and have adventure and playfulness(picnics with kids and pets)
*Exercise for blood flow and staying fit(dancing, swimming, jogging, running aerobics etc)
*Give back to society by sharing your time, resources and ideas
*Teach a younger person something and enjoy seeing them grow in the field. Teaching is learning more as well.
*Learn something new(instruments, dancing, new language etc)

I have lost a few molars without knowing that missing teeth causes bone loss and sunken lower face!!! Wish stupid dentists warn us but they don’t!!! Now I am thinking about doing implants but not even sure if it’s possible anymore it may be too late!!! Hope my appointment with the periodontist goes well 🙏

I would never have thought that implants make such a big difference in how young people look versus those who wear dentures. I hope I never need them, but if I do, it's implants all the way!

Thoughts on impacted wisdom teeth? Do they have to come out?

I had to have 2 side teeth removed 2 years ago, which was heartbreaking because I have always taken great great care of my teeth and took pride in them. However, I have Sjogren’s Syndrome and my teeth eventually succumbed to the disease because it causes dental Carie’s. I thought I was going to get away with no teeth issues, but I got them, and now I also need a crown because my gum is recessed. I had cadaver bones put in so an implant would take better to the jaw, but now because of all the autoimmune issues I’ve had because of breast implants, I’ve lost so much money, I can’t afford the $20, 000 for two implants and a crown. It’s horrible that we have can have health care, but dental insurance is not up to par.
I half- wonder if my Aetnà will pay for it since it’s a health related issue 🙏

You said the lower jaw sticks out in the old age, and that's what the picture shows too. But you also said the bone disappears... so how does the lower jaw get longer in order to protrude? Where does the length come from?

Age? Teeth? Dont think so... how about wrinkles on your whole body at age 50? Do you have solutions if any?

I have braces, never really needed them as much as other people. But I wanted to get my bite corrected, and the bottom teeth was a little crooked but not that much. I also stopped binge drinking soda and trying to completely quit drinking them and now my next step is to quit eating a lot of candy which I've been doing better. I always brush, floss and wash my teeth 2 or 3 times a day for about 5 minutes and I do have a timer that my orthodontist gave me. I definitely was sad though when I had to get a crown/cap put on one of my tooth because I had an accident, and chipped the other side so they're gunna contour/shave my chipped tooth so it's even and already talked to me orthodontist and said after I get done with my braces, I plan on getting them whitened. I'm 24 and I still look like I'm in my teens especially when I'm not wearing makeup. So I'm trying to take care of my teeth and health both so that way when I am older, I'll be in good shape.

Does removing the wisdom teeth cause aging? I had to have mine removed bc I kept getting pericoronitis and it was extremely painful. I had all four removed at age 36.
