There’s a difference between looking youthful and looking preserved. Often I see people on YouTube/social media etc who have that preserved look. Here in Vermont I see older women who look youthful without that preserved look. Rosy cheeks, bright eyes, from living a healthy life and having joy in their lives.

Doesn’t mean we don’t want to avoid premature aging. Sunscreen, teeth whitening, maybe some retinoids etc. But it seems to be living a happy life where you don’t overly focus on appearance but living your best life makes people look more attractive and youthful.

Always appreciate Dr Sam’s tips though. 😊

If you are doing a part 2 - it would be cool to understand some of the more intensive non-surgical treatments available - like micro-needling with PRP versus (ultherapy - Flaxel, CO2, clear & brilliant) . I am always confused about how these different treatments stack up against each other.

I have NEVER heard the tip of wearing compression socks to prevent varicose veins!!!! Thank you so much, that runs in my family and I never knew there was a way to prevent.

In addition to the healthy diet with antioxidants, I would add hydration internally. Dehydration contributes to the dark circles as well as dry skin, lips, etc. Most of us don’t drink enough water. Also, I am so glad you mentioned how proactive Australia is with their campaign for skin protection, but it has a lot to do with preventing skin cancer, more so than anti-aging effects, as I understand it.

I think for "anti-aging" there are 2 very important things besides the quality of the skin, that give a vibrant and youthful appearance. Thats hair and posture. My mother turning 70 this year and she has thick, long, black hair (with greys in it). And she has a great posture and walks really fast. Her back is perfectly straight. The way my mother walks and her long hair gives her a youthful aura. I take great care of my skin and hair, and also work on my muscles and posture everyday. It's important to stretch the fascia, because otherwise it sticks together and it becomes harder and harder to move.

My tip: avoid ostentatious designer labels and trends. Instead build your personal wealth and you will be happier and less stressed. Less stres may improve energy which will make it easier to work out. Working out makes it easier to prioritize good nourishment. Your hair may benefit from less stress. And yes sunscreen with hats and sunnies

I went to my dermatologist to talk about my skin and felt very rushed and didn't ask all the questions I had. I rebooked another consultation and hope it goes better. Wish you were nearby!

I luckily always wore sunscreen since being a kid, as my mum always slathered me in it as she believed it would prevent tanning, and being Asian where the culture says fairer skin is better, whether it's positive or negative i grew up slathered in sunscreen which I am now thankful for, and I continued to always wear sunscreen as I grew older from habit

New to your channel and I love it! I’ll be 50 next month, I take great care of my skin, have used Tazarotene for years, but I just started using sunscreen every single day a few years ago, and man!! It has been a game changer!! Recently, im seeing a lot people on sm talking about “toxic” sunscreen and even some calling themselves “skin care specialists” or “MUA” who are saying sunscreen does more harm than good and sunscreen is toxic. It’s so hard to hear this, and they usually won’t change their minds at all! So it’s so refreshing seeing you talk about the importance of daily sunscreen!!! 😍

I hope you can talk more about what a balanced regimen of cosmetic interventions looks like and what things we should take into consideration in making those decisions. It would be really helpful to hear from your experience so we can have more informed conversations with our providers. I would also like to hear about what to avoid depending on the situation.

I never leave the house without sunscreen. I’m a fan of EltaMD. In 54 and always pass for mid 30’s and I swear it’s due to my constant wearing of good quality sunscreen!

I started using this Foreo FAQ RF device and I must admit it is absolutely great. Results are visible.

I have a fairly good understanding of how to age well but I always watch these videos just in case there’s one or two tips that I’ve missed, I almost made it through the entire video without any trouble and then boom 💥 I didn’t know about compression socks - my Dad and Grandparents have varicose veins and they look awful so that was really helpful 🙌🏻

When I worked as a nurse in AZ in 2004/05 all of us nurses wore compression socks because we were on our feet for 12+ hrs a day. They really helped with swelling. But didn't help with spider veins. I'm genetically predisposed to spider veins though, so no shocker there.

I’d LOVE a recommendation for a retinol product for my EXTREMELY sensitive skin!! I know it will help with cell turnover but the raging redness and peeling is really not something I want to deal with!
