I can't even imagine doing this with that much weight on my back. I almost fall over doing it with 12 kg dumbbells

If you lean forward while moving back you still keep all the weight on the front leg and it helps target glutes

I like the exercise because it never gives me any knee issues from a previous injury and it forces the leg to work alone.

The only problem is it’s time and energy consuming as you only work one leg at a time. just choose traditional squats unless you wanna live in the gym

Tried it today. No weights and just doing it to see how I balance. Set my butt on fire with only body weight

You can raise your front foot on blocks to mimic squat depth too, have to go much lighter then.
