adidas have changed the Carbitex carbon fiber insert on the X Speedportal, meaning that it's now a piece of injected plastic instead. This has been done to add more flexibility and comfort to the boot, but also means that it loses a bit of that special responsiveness that no other speed boot had. My understanding from some of the other reviewers was that when stepping, the resistance from the ultra responsive plate kinda forced the top of your foot to press a little too strongly against the stretchy material (which has way more give than on the speedflow) which sort of messed up the lockdown feel as it almost felt like your foot was coming out. Not that it actually did, but that it just felt that way. Maybe softening the resistance of the sole plate was their way of alleviating that. I dunno.

Nike started all this with Nike mercurial vapor I with the ultra thin heel guard that would give you blisters. Wish Nike would release them the EXACT SAME WAY THEY WERE. Now those were light cause you could feel Antoine step on you

Between these two Speedportals, I'd go responsiveness all day. Mostly because there's not much else on offer in the Speedportal line, and if I wanted comfort, there's any number of boots better than the Speedportal
