good teacher. had an accident when I was little during diving, temporarily blinded myself for a minute scared the crap out of me. Coach had me go up the next day and I couldn't leave practice till I did that same dive 3 times. The sooner you face something after it happens the less power it has on you. If Mav stayed grounded, he would probably never fly again.

Situations of crisis demands change & contant movement. If we stop & drop to our comfort zone & keep ruminating because of past guilt & issues then we'll never experience rebirth & transformation. If we fail to sense the energy of change, we'll permanently lose momentum & will permanently stay there unless we keep pushing ourselves up.

"Keep Sending him up" is about refusing to stay stuck & courageously accepting growth in face of crisis.

What a scene! It's about transformation & evolution. It's about change.

Viper was being cruel to be kind. The spin was every pilot's nightmare, he had one hell of a fright and now it was time to make him face his demons and move on. What a fighter pilot does is dangerous, they could die every time they turn the engines on.

Maverick had not lost a RIO; surprising given his track record in the cockpit. As Viper told him " First one dies, you die too. But there will be others, I can promise you that. "

This is one of main reasons why part1 is so much better than part2. The supporting cast were actual characters not just extras like in part2. Viper was the Man, jester hard nose take no crap, ice was cocky as and so was slider. Goose awesome buddy etc. Hollywood “you’re going to do what??!!!” Only rememberable characters in pt were mav, rooster.

If Top Gun has ever had anything to do with the real US Navy FWS that was the amazing characterizations played by Top Gun Skipper and his XO. How downplayed Skerrit and Ironside' s roles in the movie were!!!!.
Real deal by two!!!!.
