Everyones reaction is different. You don't always get hives in areas where you swell IE hands feet and so on. Also it's not curable but it can just "go away" it can also just "appear" out of nowhere with no underlying cause. The reactions aren't just during the winter. They happen year round. When it's hot out and a cold wind blows, or a rain drops or you walk into an air conditioned building. When you're at a grocery store and pick up a cold item. Putting hands in cold water. Going into a cold lake/pool.My son has passed out eating ice-cream! Drinking pop. Anything and everything can be dangerous!

I just found out today that I have this…for years I’ve struggled with walking in the cold as my legs would start to itch like crazy and I actually become unable to walk. It’s like a thousand ants had bitten you or something. I’ve tried creams and changing my shower gel and detergent but it was only today that I thought to take an antihistamine and it worked!

I have that. It really sucks. It just started about a year ago, and my face started swelling because the snow was hitting it, only for a few minutes. When I got inside, I looked in the mirror and my face was swollen and had red patches and itched like crazy. From then on I noticed everytime I was out in the cold or touched something cold the same thing would happen to whatever part of my body that got could. My hands are the main parts that get affected. It's not fun at all.

I've just come up with hives. They usually only come up when I'm cold but it's very hot out and they've just come up everywhere!

my friend has this and i didn't believe her at first cuz, well, it being allergic to a temperature sounds kinda silly to the average person who has never heard of it. but i was at a summer camp with her a few years ago and we were in a really cold room in the basement of the university and she was straight up getting hives because it was so chilly. the human body is so weird man like there are people that are allergic to the sun wtf

I have this. I went swimming in a lake in the summer and I got hives all over my body and fainted. It really sucks especially since I live in Colorado.

I want to share my story on how I got it because I’m bored-
I’m only under 11 so it was weird...
Randomly, whenever I’d hold ice cream, my hands would swell up, I told my Mother and we didn’t think of much, so I ignored it, even though it continued. One day, I went to my friend’s pool, it’s an extremely cold one, mainly because it’s sheltered, so I got in. Maybe after about ten minutes? I got out about to literally freeze, and saw hives all over my body. My friend’s Mum put me in a warm shower as my friend was screaming ‘ SHE’S ALLERGIC TO WATERRR!’ Lmao. So her Mum called mine to try and come over after giving me and antihistamine. Once she came over, we still weren’t sure why it happened so we assumed it was a pool chemical. About a month later, my hands still swelling from ice cream and drinks, we went to go to the beach, it was a good day, but the water was very cold. I got in and swam around for like around twelve minutes and came out, boy, the look on my Mother’s face... I was yet again, covered in hives, we headed home, me wrapped in five damn towels, and my sister started trying to look it up, then, it was official that I had an allergy to cold. I’ve gone to visit the doctor now and I’m waiting for some allergy specialist to call when they’re ready for an appointment, but since coronavirus is being pretty annoying, it’ll probably take a month or two..

My GF has this so she’s planning on moving to somewhere warmer when she gets older.

This particularly happens to me every winter and most of the information on it just explains hives and not the sometimes painful swelling! That's very Annoying -

Wow!! I’m 47 years old and just two years ago I had this very unusual problem that never happened before. I grew up in cold weather, hot weather. I got into a pool on a cool September late August it wasn’t terribly cold but cold enough you don’t want to hang out too long. The skin that was exposed to the water completely swollen up, internal itch hives, the other parts of the body was covered up by clothing so it wasn’t as bad as the exposed skin. Now it’s cold coke cans my fingers tingle. I read that this issue is common in young kids, idk it’s weird

Me too but thankfully mine is quite mild as I live in Scotland . I do get these hives most nights but I could try to manage it better I guess

Not sure if I have this or not-
I don’t react to eating cold foods, but if I am in cold weather and start to warm up my legs with itch and itch and itch. I get hives and stuff on my legs too
Nowhere else though? Not my hands or arms, just legs
