Tongue Cancer Time Lapse

preview_player
Показать описание
Using generative AI, this time lapse sequence shows how tongue cancer develops over time. Starting with a normal tongue, slow progression from leukoplakia to stage 4 tongue cancer is shown.

Obviously, such a time lapse can not be realistically accomplished as there is no way to know if a tongue lesion will turn into cancer. Obviously, somebody with such future knowledge would have to start taking such photos now in the same spot over next 10 years to watch it slowly turn into cancer.

Video created by Dr. Christopher Chang:

early signs of tongue cancer: possibly wouldn't feel the cancer
stage 1 tongue cancer: you will see a very reddish lump on your tongue
stage 2 tongue cancer: the lump is getting bigger, and you will feel uncomfortable in your tongue
stage 3 tongue cancer: the lump is extremely big, and you will feel pain in your tongue.
stage 4 tongue cancer: you will feel extremely uncomfortable as the lump can possibly carry cancerous cells into other parts of your mouth (rare cases) and you will die if left untreated

I had tongue cancer in my 50’s never smoked, no drugs, only drank small quantity of alcohol, started as a sore tiny lump, after it didn’t heel doctor took a biopsy, no cancer! After one year it started to grow and was sore, another biopsy and was stage 2 cancer, had two ops to remove large chunk of my tongue. Fantastic surgeon saved my life! This was 13 years ago.

From what I’ve been reading, if it’s after 2 weeks and it hasn’t healed, get it checked out. They give you your chances of surviving 5 years after (rates for cancer detected early are much much better than late stage, although many do still make it through and they are learning new things and all the time).

The most common kind of tongue cancer spreads extremely quickly. If you get it checked out quickly, you can either be relieved that it’s not cancerous earlier or dive into treatment early.

This does not look real to me, my mom had a lump under her tongue & I think hers was stage 3, the lump wouldn't heal, she could still talk, it was just painful..also these lumps can bleed easily..don't believe everything you see..I mean come on the size of that lump, you know there would be something wrong..
Anyone who is going through any sort of cancer, I hope you have got good support around you & hope you heal from this dreadful disease, try & eat healthy & keep your mindset healthy, your mental health is just as important, sending love & hugs, xx

How did you let this go on for so long? Not entirely your fault as all of these specialists missed it entirely. I pray that you will recover well, and it will never come back.

It’s basically a mold growing. People don’t eat enough plant foods that kill that off.

It’s crazy it takes almost 12 years for it to form

If cancerous tumours can grow that big when it reaches stage 4 in tongue cancer, I bet it's really hard to chew food without bitting your tumour, not to mention that cancers become really painfull once they get this advanced.

not like someone will have a giant meat lump on their tongue and be like:”oh it’s just a giant meat sack!! no need to go to the doctors:)”

If you go to dentist regularly they should do cancer screenings.

EXACTLY like my gf's tongue, except hers is on the other side (R). The ENT removed a sample, sending to pathology & it's undecided- consulted w his peer & neither were able to safely say if benign or cancerous. She'd bitten on that side due to an upper tooth. It felt like a bump to her. Would they not be able to do a Moe's procedure? I'd mentioned to her; I'd opt for that is possible.
