It really helped that my first guitar at 14 was a floyd rose ibanez. Learnt a lot about guitars because of it. Had to open the guitar a few times, even learnt how to switch the pickups.

Once every few weeks? I change them when they break.

I swear every guitar player tests their tuning with an open G chord

Edit: randomly checking my notifications and I come to find a comment I left 3 years ago has blown up, damn that's the most basic comment I've ever written yet it has the most likes I've ever gotten,
Thanks btw

this worked like a charm. Done in <30 minutes. I've had bad luck changing strings on Floyd's for years, but this simple idea worked perfectly. Thanks so much.

Here's a tip:

When cutting the ball end off I like to leave a little bit of winding of the end on, this isn't necessary for the thicker strings, but the thinner strings tend to slip so I leave a little bit of winding on for the graphite block to grip.

I just did this for the first time instead of bringing it to a shop, and it went well. As long as you basically understand the Floyd system (how the tension works, what part/bolt does what, etc), it isn’t hard. I changed the string gauge and tuning as well, and adjusted the truss rod.

That's insane, I've never seen anything like that before. I only have a Strat and a Les Paul.

Really helpful video, I've tried watching many Floyd Rose set up vids but this was one of the most straightforward to watch. So well done Tyler on putting the best guitar content on youtube. I always take my guitar in to get set up, but would really like to do it all myself, the last time I got too discouraged since I mucked up the tension and string change.
I still would like to see a detailed way on how to get the best wound for a string change since sometimes I don't get a neat wrap around the tuning peg, also cleaning the fretboard properly as well. Thanks heaps

This seems ALOT easier than removing all the strings at once and fighting those springs as you tune the guitar. Thank you very much!

Out of all the videos on YouTube on how to change the strings on a Floyd rose this is the best one thank you Tyler

Always wear some type of eye protection! I had a loose string end fly around scratch my eye once and that sucks for a week! The main issue after a string change is that folks do not stretch their strings and it will take DAYS to normalize if you don't. They make a tool called a String Stretcha which is a stick that has a hook and heal and it works great. It is like $10 and will save you so much time. Another little trick it to tune up a half step so there is a little extra tension, then use the bar and stretch out the strings a few times by pulling back on the bar, then tune to pitch and lock up the nut. Once a year I will put a drop of 3-in-1 oil on each threaded part after cleaning, which will keep things nice and free. But you nailed most of the important parts like a Boss!

I was practicing sweet child o mine solo and this video's notification popped up. I was frustrated because I couldn't play the solo, so I took a break and watched this video. When I finished watching I went back to practiceing and I could somehow play it. Thanks man! :D (btw i don't even know why I watched this video, I don't even own a floyd rose)
