We evolved is not the right term. We are trained to crave dopamine. This is because sugar has been added to our food since the 1940s the last few generations of Americans have been manipulated by the food industry. In a sense, we are being mutated mentally because sugar stimulates dopamine receptors and down-regulates our prefrontal cortex which affects willpower and self-control. We have been addicted since birth. How do you see something that has been there from day one? Remove sugar from your diet and you will break from dopamine addiction. I have done this a few times just to make sure it worked. Allowing sugar back in was a very slippery slope I almost didn't get away from. Be cautious
