I have lived on this principle and my life has gone from being a master-procrastinator to a productivity freak

When life gives you lemons, squeeze them early in the morning without looking at your phone.

Now i understand this is why my therapist was telling me to do hard assignments in the mornings 😅

After watching this i feel it's important to remind viewers that it's just a suggestion, not an expectation, not a quick fix for anything. Remind yourself these discussions are suggestions for gradual improvement not an immediate result of single use choice for an immediate gold medal outcome. Now, just a gradual improvement suggestion. You still have to take into consideration your limitations, life hindrances and all issues besides. Honestly recognize you can only gradually work up to that dopaminergic impulse avoiding habit. Especially if you have an ADHD or AuDHD brain to work with. Don't let yourself all or nothing it, pace yourself and it can be done.

Personally working at writing more in the morning and using my device for auditory white noise basically, music, audiovisual etc, working with ADHD and numerous other issues of course, but making progress. Thank you Doc. K :P

So we want to spend our dopamine reserve on the important/hard work first thing in the day 👏

Literally seeing this as one of the first videos in the morning on my phone in bed.

This may also explains why after a few hours of raw boredom, I'm suddenly able to really enjoy stuff later in the day again. It might be giveimg me time to restock the dopamime a little.

Now when I get bored and notice myself reaching for my phone, I make myself toss it over my shoulder and commit to the boredom. I started reflecting on myself and my problems during this boredom time. Eventually my body gets restless to the point where I'm willing to do anything just to get moving. That's when I pick something I've been procrastinating on and dominate it.

Then that dopamine hits and I'm in a great mood for the rest of the night 😊

Doesn't work on job days though... Lunch breaks aren't long or isolating enough. Plus it turns into the only time I CAN use my phone, so it's the opposite of what I do at home 😅

Here i am, 8am on the train, still watching videos like this since i woke up, to fend off the painful hole in my stomach when i wake up, and the painful thoughts of my life-hole after i get up.

I just started following this recently and I can’t believe something so simple is helping me so much. I just wish I figured this out earlier in my life, I’m 26 now

Now I understand why it helps a lot just to take a nap mid-day and then get to work again. 👍

this makes me think of how kids get sent to school early in the morning and then they spend all day at school, so no wonder why by the time they get sent home, they have run out of energy and dopamine from having to use it all up at school so they can't get started on homework

Is there any difference in this pattern for people with delayed sleep phase disorder (circadian rhythm disorder)? Waking up in the morning is brutal for me. It takes me a while to start going. The first few hours of the day are some of my least productive, especially if it’s before 10 or 11 am.

It's more about dopamine receptor sensitivity and density than anything else. So many have desensitized themselves by keeping dopamine levels high far to consistently. This forces the body to adapt by making dopamine receptors to become less sensitive to dopamine.

This advice is genuinely the best advice I ever got in my life

This is the reason why when i get off the work, my feeling is sooo positive and happy. I'm very stressful when i get to the office first in the morning and then later finishing the work, my mood is so high and feel fresh. But sometimes if i get too much of stress in the work, i'm so exhausted and i can't do anything, except for that, I'm so satisfied after finishing the work, it's a feeling like very proud of myself and fulfilled.

This is so true. There was a period in my life where I forced myself to wake up early and do my work first hours in the morning and I feel so content with my day. I knew this theoritically but its so hard to go back to that. 😖

is this the reason our concentration diminishes throughout the day?

The irony of me watching this before even getting up.😅
