I’ve been in so many situations where I mention that I’m autistic, and the person will straight up call me the r-word for no reason whatsoever. I see way too many people saying it on a daily basis, and I wish it would stop.

Sorry please don’t hate on me for saying this but I personally think the only reason people are upset about the R-word now days is because everyone thinks it implies discrimination to those with mental disabilities but the word actually just means slow it has multiple definitions and when I use the word I personally only mean someone is slow I am not trying to say they are mentally disabled and I didn’t mean any discrimination to those with mental disabilities

As someone with Cerebral Palsy my opinion is that it’s a word that can have meaning but genuinely I think of it as another term for idiot. However I understand your point

Today I called out a girl in my math class for her continued use of the r-word, I got mocked and laughed at by everyone in the room (save for the teacher) - it's so heartbreaking to be constantly taught your disability is insulting.

I can relate, I am constantly called retarded by people, ik its just a word but its not the word that gets to me its how often I am called that. It makes me feel like I am generally looked down upon.

The "R word" is used mainly to call people stupid. I rarely hear people call Autistic people that word. But I don't like it when people use it to describe Autistic people and those who have Down Syndrom and special needs.

My little brother has Down syndrome and I love him no matter what and hearing other people hate that word too is very empowering
