Western audience might view these monsters or figures as some mere random amalgamations with asian traits, aka just dude punching stabbing grotesque oversized monsters over n over etc..thus the accusation of darksoul/GoW rippoffs. But for those who grew up with Wukong from journey to the west adaptations, these are in facts very loyal interpretations of actual characters from the novel, as well as taoist/budhist pantheons, along with familiar details of their back stories. Like that yellow eyebrow dude also faking being a Buddha canonically.

I'm very sure, all this time the one who was looking for the Wukong artifact was one of his feathers that was removed before he actually fell asleep. Therefore, every Wukong artifact is always active when touched by the character being played.
