Zhu Bajie admired the Taiyin Star Lord (not Chang'e), but on his journey, he encountered a handmaiden who turned out to be Chang'e (Chang'e is a title; all handmaidens of the Taiyin Star Lord are called Chang'e). The Jade Emperor was secretly meeting with the Taiyin Star Lord when Tian Peng (Bajie) accidentally saw them. As a result, he was banished to the mortal realm. This Chang'e, unable to forget Tian Peng, also descended to the mortal world and became a spider demon.

When the banished Bajie saw Gao Cuilan at Gao Village, he mistook her for Chang'e and pursued her. However, Gao Cuilan was terrified when she saw Bajie's true form. As Bajie continued westward, he reached the Pansi Cave, where the reincarnated Purple Spider immediately recognized the pig-headed figure she had longed for. The two fell in love, and Bajie spared the Purple Spider during this tribulation. The Purple Spider bore Bajie’s daughter and waited for him until her death. Due to the earlier case of mistaken identity, the Purple Spider said to Bajie on her deathbed, "You're still as foolish as before, " referring to both his mistake and his reluctance to acknowledge them out of fear of the Heavenly Court’s retribution.

Even someone as powerful as the Monkey King was killed by the Heavenly Court. The Bull Demon King, a mighty warlord in his own right, suffered the destruction of his family and the scattering of his loved ones just because he got entangled with someone of destiny. How could the small Pansi Cave stand against the Heavenly Court? Bajie didn’t have the skills of his elder brother, nor the power of the Bull Demon King.

If he doesn't look back, he can't love her; if he does, it will bring her harm. So Bajie chose not to acknowledge her—he couldn’t. Bajie was determined to help the destined one, and even if he failed, the only price would be his own life. He would no longer drag his loved ones into it. The best love he could give her was to let go.

Zhu Bajie has an incredibly tragic backstory. The Heavens punished him to suffer 1000 lifetimes of heartbreak for his crime of trying to seduce Chang'e. In each of his reincarnations, everytime he fell in love, tragedy would befall him (and sometimes his loved one).

A small explaination for the part 03:06 - 03:16 (assume that you have already understood the story)

Gradually, she turns from human to monster (spider): she can not let go of her love (cause suffering, anger after waiting for so many years) leading to her misdeeds (killing, etc.), which is a part of monster's nature

Gradually, he turns from monster (pig) to human, he lets go of his love to embark on the journey approaching buddhahood (though, he stills feels sorry for her as he cries at the end)

Pigsy (Bajie), in his pursuit of Moon Goddess, accidentally bumped into Zi'er (the elder spider lady). Zi'er fell deeply in love with Pigsy at first sight. Later, Pigsy was banished to the mortal realm after exposing the illicit affair between Moon Goddess and the Jade Emperor. Zi'er willingly gave up her immortality to follow Pigsy. Through nine reincarnations, Pigsy wandered, and Zi'er waited. Pigsy transformed from a demon to a Buddha, while Zi’er descended from a deity to a demon. Their destinies, once intertwined, drifted further apart. After completing the fifth chapter, we discover that Pigsy didn't deny their past but feared acknowledging it. Due to the Heavenly Court's persecution, Pigsy worried that being with him would endanger Zi'er, so he resolutely chose to embark on the Journey to the West.

Pigsy, mistakenly reincarnated as a pig, frightened another young lady at the beginning of the story. Yet, despite his pig-like appearance, Zi'er instantly recognized Pigsy's original handsome features in the hot spring. As their hands clasped, Pigsy's initial reaction was self-loathing. He transformed back into a pig, saying, "I'm no longer the mighty Marshal of the Heavenly River; I'm just a lowly pig demon." Zi'er, upon hearing this, instantly transformed into a spider, saying, "I don't care! I'm no longer a graceful celestial maiden, but just an ugly spider." True love is accepting the other unconditionally, even at their most destitute. After confessing their deepest insecurities, they embraced each other without hesitation. In the final lines of the song, the man sings, "I hope you won't look back" (hoping she hadn't fallen for him initially and could remain a happy celestial maiden), while the woman sings, "Please do look back" (no matter what, I will wait for you).

Violet Spider fell to mortal world from heaven to become a spider because she wants to be a Zhu like Bajie.

The story here is that Pigsy (aka Tianpeng in heaven) admired Taiyin Xingjun (not Chang'e), and the maid he met on the road was Chang'e (Chang'e is an official title, and all the maids of Taiyin Xingjun are called Chang'e). Pigsy caught the Jade Emperor and Taiyin Xingjun having a secret affair and got demoted to the mortal world. This Chang'e was obsessed with Tianpeng and descended to the mortal world to become a spider yaoguai.

Pigsy, who was demoted to the mortal world, saw Gao Cuilan in Gao Laozhuang and thought it was Chang'e and chased after her. But Gao Cuilan was so scared when she saw Bajie's true body. Then the main storyline of Journey to West happens and they traveled to Pansi Cave. The reincarnated Purple Spider immediately recognized the Pigsy who had been thinking about him at first sight, the two fell in love.

Pigsy also released Purple Spider during the journey (when they would usually kill yaoguais on the way). Purple Spider had Pigsy’s daughter and waited for Pigsy until she grew old. Because of Pigsy mistaking Cuilan as her before at Gao Lao Zhuang, Purple Spider said before his death, “you are still as stupid as before” (referring to him mistaking her before), and also referring to the Pigsy being terrified of reuniting with her for the fear of being dealt with by heaven.
