Russia gains ground in Donbas amid battle for Ukraine's industrial heartland

Russian forces are inching closer to capturing the key city of Sloviansk, as they make more gains in the critical battle for Ukraine's Donbas region.

Russia is closing in on the city, just 12 kilometres from the frontline, and they are now on the cusp of capturing Luhansk and surrounding Ukrainian-held territory in Donetsk.

Jeff Semple is in Sloviansk, speaking with residents holed up there, and how they are preparing to hold the line against Russia's warpath.

Ukraine is losing the war and losing badly at that. Ukrainian army is crumbling. We can see mass surrender and desertion. Western supplies are a drop in the bucket taking into account the amount of already lost hardware. Without direct intervention of Polish or Romanian armies Ukrainian army will be done by the end of the year. 40+ billion in American weapons without even minimal oversight is mostly about corruption and kickbacks as usual .
