Ukraine gains new ground in its offensive inside Russia

Ukraine is pushing in its efforts to turn the tables on Russia, its military crossing over the border and taking control of multiple towns. Leaders in Ukraine tell NBC News’ Erin McLaughlin it’s part of an effort to get Putin to refocus his forces on defending Russian land and abandon the position they have inside Ukraine.

THis is perhaps the final throw of the dice for Ukraine. I am deeply fearful of what this could mean for the world, what exactly is Ukraine trying to accomplish? Its terriorial gains inside Russia can not hope to be held, it seems to have committed a large amount of its elite troops and western equipment to this attack. I see a risk of a wider confligration, or a battle of the bulge moment where Ukraines forces are cut off and destroyed. There could also be regime change in Russia at this point, the whole thing is now a bag of unknown and god knows what might come out of it. I still think however that once Russia gets its troops in postiion its going to get very bad for the Ukrainian troops around Kursk, there is no air cover, no drone warfare to back them up. Russia will see this is absolute proof of the collusion of the west to invade Russia once again and make every effort to destroy Ukraines forces. I hope this brings everyone to the negotiation table and peace is found, I suspect however that this will continue to escalate.
