Did this video help you to focus your approach to studying and learning?

Grit is reading stackoverflow for 3 hours to find out your problem to realize that you forgot to put a parentheses.

The last 10% takes 90% of the time... I can relate.

The best habit while learning to code is not listening to people but keep coding

To add: you should make the minimum viable product instead of polishing every last detail and adding multiple features. Then and only then should you move on to other stuff.

me: not learning to code
also me: watching this just in case

Great advice, I've been doing exactly this for around 6 years, always learning different stuff (Web, Python, Unity, C++, etc...) and never actually finishing anything, so now I'm a jack of all trades and master of none, and is hard for recruiters to take me seriously because I'm not an expert in anything.
So keep working on that thing until you finish it even if you're bored or struggling with something.

As someone who learning by them self (for the past 3 years), this is really one the best advice you can give someone. Honestly this can apply to a lot other then just coding. Thanks for reinforcing what I thought. this should be a must watch to every new programmer.

It's always better to have one fully completed medium project than 10 unfinished hard ones ;)

omg... i stumbled accidentally your video. It's like a blessing.
It's all I needed to hear to wake myself up and what im living through while learning.
It made realize that if I do this job it will teach me patience and not to procrastinate.
Im risking to lose confidence and burn myself but I see what I can earn following this.
My personality can be bended to lose those edges.

I didn't really know if this video would have helped me, but I tried to watch it anyways.

And god damn is he spitting facts!
That's exactly what happens to me.
I got bored, I switch to other projects, and then eventually get bored of the language and switch to another one, and I keep repeating the same things over and over not making any progress for almost 2 years now (yes 2 years, don't make fub of me pls).
I actually gonna try your approach, I think this channel is actually helping me so much.
The only thing that I have to complain about is the part when you say to "sub if you are new" etc...
I know that you really appreciate your subs, and I understand it :)
but it would be nice to make that part a little shorter :D

Other than that I really like your channel, it almost looks like you are really speaking to me face2face

Usually when I get stuck at some part of a project I reproduce step by step the program to figure out what to correct/add in order to work. Some other times if I get frustrated I start over again. The good side about this is that you learn much more things as you try and make faster and faster as more completed projects you do.

WoW! Almost feels like this is aimed specifically at me ! As a nooob that is exactly the process I find myself in. It's motivating to hear someone who's accomplished has gone through the same, and was once in the place I am now. Good Work and thank you.

Thanks for this advice.. I just wanted to mention one thing.. I was shocked how accurate this was. I find myself exactly in those situations you described. Good to know this is a thing other people are facing too.

It’s called “deliberate practice” and it’s a method. Research “deliberate practice” and “growth mindset.” 👍

I agree with you 100% Tutorials are useful but they are not enough. Having a project is where you prove to yourself that you have learned your programming language of choice. Great video. Thanks for putting this together.

Thanks for telling me this. I have always struggled with this. Never completed a book or tutorial. All I have unfinished projects.
This leads to my feeling of not confident enough. Thanks, bro, for showing my flaws.
