I paid off my house long time ago, no car payments, still working full time and I’m 65 years old.

I was lucky. My 12th grade Civics teacher taught us about finances for the last 2 weeks of school. First week (this is 1967) gave us a yearly income of 8K. Told us to figure out housing, food, transportation, clothing, etc. At the end of the first week we were all bankrupt. He told us how to save and slowly move up. Thank you, Mr. Powell.

Thank God, I’m not part of this stupid! When I got divorced, my house was paid off then I had enough money with investments to live from the income. It took planning it took drive but it was worth it!!
I encourage anyone to do it. It sets you free!
The main reason I am divorced is my husband kept racking up debt and I said if you do it one more time and we have to refinance the house it’s over. It’s now over. There’s a lot more to it, but that’s all you need to know.

So far I've only had two car loans and neither came close to $400
My rent is $600, but the amount of people I work with who has a $600 plus dollar car payment is alarming.
I'm not perfect with budgeting, but dang don't put yourself underwater over a car.

This what happens to our people when you decide not to make financial Illiteracy top priorities in our schools, starting at a very young age, but then again the more educated we are the poor they are, So financial Illiteracy Spells Doom For The Banking System, besides it's not rocket science !!! 🦉
