Your nervous system, primarily through the vagus nerve, is always trying to find balance. And particularly during times of stress, it’s always trying to find ways to down-regulate a.k.a. calm down.
.
There are four simple physiological signs, that show your nervous system is trying to relax:
.
🪶 Yawning
🪶 Swallowing
🪶 Sighing
🪶 Moving eyes around environment/taking things in
.
Some of these, we’ve come to associate with being stressed. But these are actually good signs, that your nervous system has recognized the need for relaxation.
.
Not only are these signs that your nervous system is relaxing, but you can consciously use these to invite more of a chill state.
.
Next time you feel anxious, try deliberately doing these four things. Likewise, notice if you find yourself naturally doing these things, and check in with yourself. Notice if there are cues of threat or stress in your environment.
.
Remember friends, your body loves you unconditionally, and is always trying to move you into safety and calm!

The last one though..I feel my eyesight getting worse and I’m getting bad at keeping eye contact again. Clumsy when I walk around because I’m too scared to look around me. Glad to know more about why that happens 🙏🏻
