Stay on 1080p, and you'll get an extra couple of years out of your new GPU. I made the switch to 1440p several years ago, and the extra costs of upgrading so often and drastically just to keep a decent fremerate isn't really worth it for a slightly better picture imo. Heavily considered going back to a good quality 1080 panel.

Also, don't be afraid to buy used!!! I've only ever bought used cards and never had an issue, and they've been around $50 dollars cheaper on average than MSRP (depends heavily on the card) tho
