Personally I am not paying 2k for a gpu. I am happy with your suggestions of 7700 7800 7900 in different variations. Nvidea is just taking advantage of the AI market but that will change soon, there are a number of other manufacturers that will challenge them. It won't be GPUs but it will pressure Nvidea. I will probably wait for an 8000 gpu paired with a 9800x3d thanks for all you do Jason

I can still play everything on my old 1080 ti, but it is getting to the point where if the right deal comes along I will upgrade. I honestly think people should seriously consider those at $105. It's a great price and it runs everything I've thrown at it. Yes, not on the most extreme settings, but it gets decent frames on modest settings.

The interesting thing is, I'm somewhat fortunate and well off when it comes to money so I could buy anything I want, and I still refuse to pay insane prices for these GPUs. I wish more people would just say no.

Buy now or wait until January?. AMD will offer a 7900 GRE class of card with Ray tracing twice as fast. But only 5% of people use Ray tracing regularly. Nvidia will once again offer no improvement in price/performance of the 5000 series. So the next two years of graphics cards will be meh. Under these circumstances you should buy a card now if got a good sale.... If you are afraid of tariff increases well I bought a card in June to avoid the tariff increases which were then delayed...

I'm still tempted by the 7900 GRE even with the 7800 getting cheaper. It's my first build and i want something to last a few years. Willing to shell out a bit more.

Thanks Jason! I'm still more than content with my 5600/6750 combo. Plays everything at great settings at 1440P. I actually downgraded from a 7800XT and have it sitting on a shelf next to my 6800, 6600, 6650, 5700xt, A770, A580, and my 1080ti. I didn't need the extra frames and the 6750 runs quieter and draws less power and causes less heat. And yeah, I probably enjoy chasing a good deal on graphics cards more than I enjoy using them, but I do use them a lot. I've got another 20 or 30 older cards going back 20+ years to my old Radeon 9800 pro and my original card 3dfx Voodoo 2.

Yeah I’m in a bit of a weird spot. I’m currently buying parts for a substantial upgrade PC build (9800X3D, etc…) and I’m stuck deciding between buying the 4080 Super now for $1, 000 or waiting for the 5080 with uncertainty on price/availability. Maybe I’ll just need to end up doing both just in case lol

I already picked up a Sapphire 7700xt Nitro + for an amazing £314. I'd love to pick up a 7800xt or 7900gre but I've been spoilt with the deal on the 7700xt.

I think it would have been important to mention the potential tariffs inflating costs next year on top of what Nvidia/AMD is already going to be charging for US customers. If you're in the market at this point I'd say buy a good deal and be happy you're not going to pay a potential 40% mark-up (this is on the high end worst case scenario, but not unlikely).
